Your Role
  • As the Associate Director Sustainability for DACH (f,m,d,x) (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) you will lead our sustainability roadmap and projects, drive decarbonization and other sustainability targets, define new scopes, and initiate new projects for the German speaking region.
  • You will report to the Vice President Strategy & Transformation in DACH and will be part of a highly motivated strategic team embedded in a network of international sustainability leads and expert topic owners. You will have one direct report.
  • You are responsible for shaping our transformation journey and contribute towards a sustainable change in the way food is supplied and consumed.
Your Area of Responsibility
  • You drive the HelloFresh DACH Sustainability Program and deliver on ambitious carbon emission reduction goals, product sustainability roadmap, sustainable sourcing initiatives, packaging innovations, and circularity and food waste hierarchy optimization together with the various teams. 
  • You own and develop the sustainability targets, monitoring & reporting of KPIs to ensure transparency to C-Level and wider organization.  
  • You lead cross-functional sustainability projects, generate buy-in across functions, and collaborate with procurement, logistics, production, tech, product, FSQA,  brand & communication as well as external partners to achieve sustainability goals. 
  • You work with other HelloFresh geographies and Global Sustainability functions to drive synergies and best practices globally and ensure HelloFresh remains at the forefront of sustainable innovation. 
  • You support internal stakeholders with design, implementation, and maintenance of the sustainability program.  
  • You steer the business to continuously make climate-conscious decisions and integrate sustainability metrics into tools and processes. 
  • You are responsible for the DACH Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) landscape as part of Group Non-Financial Reporting, ensuring that our reporting meets and exceeds regulatory requirements like CSRD
  • You establish and drive relationships with internal (at both local and global level) and external stakeholders such as our engagement in national initiatives like “Together for Carbon Labelling” or the “Pakt gegen Lebensmittelverschwendung”. 
Your Profile
  • You have at least 5 years of demonstrated professional experience in a similar role.  
  • You have previous experience in managing direct reports or horizontal teams and have a transformational leadership mindset 
  • You have a postgraduate degree in sustainability, business, economics, engineering or comparable education. 
  • You have excellent stakeholder management skills and senior management engagement experience with an internal client management mindset.  
  • You have already gained experience with managing a varied portfolio of sustainability topics or strategic cross-functional projects or programs (ideally including product and tech stakeholders). 
  • You have experience in sustainability reporting and good understanding of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting landscape. 
  • You know have substantial knowledge of food industry and product sustainability, regenerative agriculture, circularity, supply chain sustainability, data analytics. 
  • You have managed strategic partnerships and have experience working together with consultancy partners or NGO’s.  
  • You have a passion for building sustainable solutions with other teams and a blend of environmental and commercial viability.  
  • You are highly data-driven and have a proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meeting deadlines.  
  • You speak fluent German & English.
