Associate Program Manager
Our Opportunity:
Chewy is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Associate Program Manager to join our Environmental Team. In this critical role, you will oversee the review, categorization, and approval of products and materials acquired for Chewy’s inventory, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory standards including EPA, OSHA, NFPA, IBC, and DOT. As an individual contributor, you will work closely with various departments to maintain and enhance Chewy's commitment to environmental responsibility and safety.
What You'll Do:
Product and Material Review:
- Evaluate products and materials to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Categorize products based on regulatory requirements and internal guidelines.
- Research compliance requirements within provided documentation and acquire missing documentation when needed.
- Communication with internal and external resources to ensure full understanding of product characteristics.
- Partner with internal organization to ensure handling, storage and disposal of materials are in compliance with applicable federal and local requirements.
- Approve or reject products and materials based on compliance assessments.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to EPA, OSHA, NFPA, IBC, and DOT regulations.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in relevant laws and regulations.
- Assist in developing and updating internal compliance policies and procedures.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with procurement, operations, and other relevant teams to ensure compliance in all stages of product acquisition and handling.
- Provide guidance and training to internal teams on regulatory requirements and compliance best practices.
- Communicate effectively with vendors and suppliers to ensure they meet Chewy’s compliance standards.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of product evaluations, compliance decisions, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and present reports on compliance activities and findings to senior management.
- Assist in the preparation of compliance audits and inspections.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes and reduce environmental impact.
- Participate in environmental sustainability initiatives and projects.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging trends in environmental compliance.
What You'll Need:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in environmental compliance, safety, or a related field.
- Experience with regulatory compliance in a retail or distribution environment is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of EPA, OSHA, NFPA, IBC, and DOT regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Certifications:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Hazardous Materials Management) are a plus
Compensation & Benefits:
Our salary range for a Associate Program Manager position is $66,000.00 - $99,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
