AUTOMATION & CONTROLS SPECIALIST (STARBASE INFRASTRUCTURE)

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Build and activate new automation projects including mechanical assembly, wiring, pneumatics routing, I/O checkouts, and production qualification
  • Create, update, and modify electrical, pneumatic, and fluid schematics
  • Troubleshoot and remedy problems with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems, HMI’s, and PLC’s
  • Layout, build, and troubleshoot new industrial electrical control panels
  • Design, commission, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI software applications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school degree or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation and design (electrical, oil/gas, and/or utilities)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree
  • Possess an occupational trade school qualification in an electrical based field
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety), NFPA 79, and UL508A codes
  • PLC wiring and programming experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens, and/or SEL Rtac)
  • Experience with HMI, SCADA, IoT (MQTT, OPC-UA), and/or ignition systems with a focus on user friendly navigation and industrial process monitoring/control 
  • Experience with field bus networks, serial communication, and ethernet communication 
  • Knowledge of industrial protocols including Modbus, DNP, TCP/IP, Profinet, Goose (61850), C37.118 (synchrophasor), bacnet, and/or SNMP
  • Experience with IEDs utilized for electrical protection and instrumentation
  • Expertise with python programming
  • Experience with relational databases (SQL)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:       

Pay range:       

Automation & Controls Specialist/Level 1: $28.00/hour  

Automation & Controls Specialist/Level 2: $32.00/hour  

Automation & Controls Specialist/Level 3: $36.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
