AVP, Field Engineering (Financial Services)

Location: Eastern U.S. (New York, Boston or Washington D.C.)

Mission 

We seek a seasoned technical leader for the AVP of Field Engineering position focused on the Financial Services industry. In this role, you will lead teams of 2nd-line Managers and teams of pre-sales Solutions Architects, Specialist Solutions Architects, and Delivery Solutions Architects focusing on complex accounts across banking, capital markets, professional services firms, FinTech, and insurance companies. Your experience partnering with sales, services, marketing, and product organizations will help grow consumption while coaching new sales and pre-sales team members to work together and raise the bar to be the best in class. You will guide your team and be involved with opportunities to enhance your team's effectiveness. You must be an expert at communicating complex, business value-focused solutions, supporting complex sales cycles, and building technical executive relationships with key stakeholders in large corporations. You will report in to the VP of Field Engineering for AMER.

The Impact you will have:

  • You will report to the Americas Enterprise Field Engineering Leader and included in the scope of management and accountability for the AVP Field Engineering will be Solution Architects (SA's), Specialist Solution Architects (SSA's), and a new post-Technical Win role called the Delivery Solutions Architect (DSA's). 
  • Tight alignment with Sales segmentation and strategy, coupled with resource prioritization and distribution across these three technical roles is paramount to the success of the AVP Field Engineering.
  • Build a collaborative culture within a rapid-growth team. You will manage and mentor leaders and recruit talent focusing on inclusivity and resilience
  • Rapidly scale the Field Engineering segment team while maintaining a high bar for talent (Hiring vs Target)
  • Drive a consistent, thorough management operating rhythm to review KPIs (pipeline, Use Case progress, POC/POV status, velocity of Win to Production, etc.)
  • Increase SA, SSA, and DSA efficiency in Sales and Consumption cycles
  • Serve as a thought leader, consulting with strategic customer and partner contacts to position the strength of Databricks, the comprehensive solutions strategy, and build trust and credibility in the account
  • Build Databricks' brand in the Financial Services sector with the GTM and Sales teams.

What we look for:  

  • 15+ years experience in building and scaling pre-sales and Customer Delivery teams
  • Experience in scaling and mentoring field and technical teams managing both in-person and remote working models
  • Experience working with accounts - from Growth/Net New to Large and Complex accounts generating +$1M ARR
  • Relevant high-growth enterprise software pre-sales success with senior-level tenure at a reputable software company, with experience in the Financial Services market.
  • Knowledgeable in AI, and Cloud software models with technical competence in Data Warehousing, Data Engineering, and Analytics/Machine Learning
  • Experience instituting processes for technical field members to improve operational efficiency
  • Organizational leadership, with an ability to attract, develop,
  •  and retain talent
  • Ability to operate in a rapidly changing, ambiguous environment, while delivering results in the near term and building for durable, long-term growth
  • Open to travel up to 25% per month
