We are looking for an ambitious Business Development Director who will work strategically with China Headquarters in Shanghai to ensure healthy business growth. You will be responsible for the new business sales activities in China’s professional services sector and drive for growth to achieve maximum profitability and growth in line with company strategies and requirements.

 

What You Will Be Doing

  • Embody Mintel’s corporate culture and demonstrate Mintel’s leadership values
  • Ensure that the business’ commercial targets are achieved for the professional services team
  • Ensure meeting activity levels (prospecting calls, appointments, presentations & proposal submissions) are met or exceeded by the team each month
  • Travel to prospects for face-to-face meetings (up to 50% of the time or as needed) and demonstrate a highly polished, professional, and consultative selling style to set an example for the team
  • Ensure accurate recording of client details, meetings, objectives, and opportunities within Salesforce CRM by the team
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes and ensure they are implemented within the team
  • Communicate to Sales Director for Greater China on all key issues in the business
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Client-Obsessed: You actively join your team’s client meetings to speak with and listen to clients, and consistently have clients talk to the company about what is and is not working. You network at the highest possible levels with clients to help your team to ensure there is appropriate executive engagement.
  • Commercially-minded: You have a proven track record of delivering return on investment and achieving sales targets both individually and when leading a team
  • Great communicator: You have extremely polished verbal and written communication skills, and can adapt your communication style to suit each client, your team, and across teams.
  • Short and long-term focused: You have an understanding of the immediacy of winning this month’s team sales results while making the appropriate adjustments to ensure the same for the next 6-12 months
  • Creative problem-solver: You are able to identify complex problems based on a broad range of factors.  You also are able to develop & implement optimal solutions.  You establish key results, you track learnings and you embrace continuous improvement
  • A Practitioner:  You should have at least 5-10 years of individual sales success, with a focus on new business development, a track record of selling consultancy solutions to the C-suite, as well as rooted connections within the retail sector. You possess and apply practical and technical skills, knowledge, and experience related to sales and customer services.
