Your Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for a BI Engineer to join our Merchandise Analytics team in Boston or Seattle. This role requires a strong foundation in data analysis and visualization, with a particular emphasis on building rich, interactive dashboards and reports using Python visualization libraries such as Plotly, Dash, or Streamlit. This team plays a vital role in many different aspects of the overall business performance. In addition to providing full-service reporting solutions for numerous cross functional stakeholders, Merchandise Analytics also provides deep dive analyses for key functional areas such as Assortment, Promotion, Customer Behavior, Autoship, Vendor Experience, and Data Science.

What You’ll Do:
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive data visualizations and dashboards using Python-based tools (e.g., Dash, Plotly).
- Build scalable data pipelines and models to support BI solutions.
- Partner with Category Management teams to gather requirements and transform business questions into data-driven insights.
- Analyze demand and resource requirements against available resources to identify risks and opportunities and provide recommendations to solve for resource constraints
- Automate reporting processes to improve accessibility and usability of key metrics.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from diverse data sources
- Validate data integrity and ensure consistency across reports and dashboards.
- Continuously optimize and refactor BI solutions for performance and maintainability.
- Stay up to date with trends in data visualization and BI technologies.
- Respond to high priority requests from senior business leaders
What You’ll Need:
- BS/BA in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, Information Management, Data Science or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in BI, data analytics, or a similar role.
- Proficiency in Python, with strong experience in visualization libraries (Plotly, Dash, etc…).
- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
- Familiarity with data modeling concepts and ETL processes.
- Solid understanding of data visualization best practices and user-centric design.
- Knowledge of data warehousing and experience with data transformation processes
- Look at solutions and see opportunities and can lead the way.
- Convey important insights from complex analysis in summarized business terms
Bonus (if applicable):
- Masters in Analytics, or equivalent advanced academic degree
- Experience working within Snowflake and Tableau
- Additional technical/programming experience including Java, Scala, DBT, or ChatGPT
- Data modeling experience in Retail/E-commerce

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. Salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations. Pay Range$113,000—$180,500 USD
