The Community You Will Join:

As a Platform Controlling team member you will have broad exposure to various functions at Airbnb, including Business Insights, Engineering, Product, Business Development & Finance Systems and will also work closely with external business partners.

The Difference You Will Make:

  • Effectively owning the collections function by leading the in-house collections process and the late stage collections process outsourced to 3rd party debt collection agencies globally.  
  • Manage the overall Airbnb platform collections performance (targets, incentives), collectibility rates, strategy (new inventory or revamp of existing process) and related policies. 
  • Partner with data science and finance technology to oversee the development of dashboards and the implementation of systems leading to improved transparency and efficiency of the team
  • Responsible for identifying and Implementation of new collection opportunities or potential system enhancements/tooling that can improve collectibility rates 
  • Partnering with the platform accounting team to understand the accounting vs operational management of the receivables, bad debt, and collectibility rates.  Leading the discussion of any change in receivable management or terms of service.

A Typical Day:

  • Coaching and mentoring the team to inspire and drive results
  • Strategizing with the leadership team to improve processes to ensure optimal resource allocation
  • Identifying trends and evaluating the product to recommend ways to reduce the generation of receivables
  • Implementing process improvements to improve collectibility rates
  • Influence key partners to drive prioritization of system or process changes
  • Collaborating with cross functional partners to deliver on collections goals

Your Expertise:

  • 8+ years experience in collection operations at a large scale company (Tech industry and/or public company experience preferred)
  • B.A. or B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related discipline
  • Deep knowledge of collections strategies, operational efficiency, and team management
  • Ability to understand and translate the impact collections processes have on the financial statements
  • Advanced Excel knowledge. SQL training will be provided.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience analyzing high volume, multi-currency transactions in a global business environment
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills - ability to work with a diverse team and impart change across functional and business boundaries
  • Capable of handling multiple projects in a fast paced, hyper growth environment
