The Difference You Will Make:

  • We are hiring a Communications Manager for Korea. The role is responsible for delivering Airbnb’s Communications activities in Korea including press announcements, press events, digital campaigns, policy advocacy campaigns, consumer activations, and media and influencer engagement that drive positive brand buzz and reputation.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the communications team members and cross-functional partners to ensure Airbnb is front and centre in the media, telling our story to a wide range of journalists, influencers and community members.
  • We’re looking for a creative, collaborative and proactive communications professional who has their finger on the pulse of popular culture and the regulatory environment, an ability to navigate ambiguity, and a passion for creating newsworthy campaigns that deliver positive social and traditional media buzz, ultimately helping drive Airbnb’s reputation forward.
  • The role is based in Seoul and reports to the Communications Lead, Korea. 

 

A Typical Day: 

  • Build and execute key consumer, product, corporate & policy initiatives that enhance and protect Airbnb’s reputation in Korea.
  • Work with local agencies on a day to day basis to develop and execute an extensive press office calendar for ‘always on’ drumbeat news, encompassing data and trends-based localised press pitches, media fam trips and influencer-driven activations that drive positive coverage and social media buzz.
  • Devise an extensive calendar of thought leadership and corporate speaking opportunities that showcases leadership bench strength across the region, ensuring the Country Manager and Policy Leads have strong share of voice across the travel, tech and regulatory sectors
  • Work closely with cross functional team stakeholders across Korea to support local business goals and priorities
  • Work with media, influencers, content creators and celebrities on opportunities to promote Airbnb listings and our community of Hosts.
  • Translate global campaigns and launches into locally nuanced pitches that support Airbnb’s key business objectives in Korea.
  • Implement media monitoring tools to track coverage and sentiment, providing regular reports to stakeholders on communication effectiveness.
  • Manage and support daily team operations, including setting up suppliers, processing purchase orders, tracking payments, managing program budgets and deadlines, and ensuring compliance with financial policies.
  • Ensure key processes are adhered to, including coverage reporting for specific projects, filtering and translation of key global communications press materials and coverage monitoring and tracking.

 

Your Expertise:

  • 5 to 8 years communications experience working in an agency or in-house communications role; preference to those with experience working with global lifestyle/ tech/ travel brands
  • Experience working with and executing celebrity and influencer campaigns
  • General understanding of the Korean policy/ news landscape with a black book of journalist contacts.
  • Able to produce quality work within tight deadlines, adjust quickly to changes in priorities, and keep positive and level-headed in stressful situations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-functional leads in a matrix organization
  • Passion for Airbnb and the mission of the company, and ability to learn and improve on the go
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-starter who operates with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills in both English and Korean; and exceptional interpersonal skills
