This role in a nutshell:
The Compliance Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of OVO’s second line compliance function. This includes business-wide training, improving the first line of defense, managing compliance systems, reporting on performance, providing key business updates through structured internal meetings, and working with the team to ensure the business is well informed with clear and accurate compliance advice.
Your key outcomes will be:
- Enhanced Compliance Training and Awareness: Successfully develop and deliver training programs that improve and maintain staff awareness and understanding of energy compliance requirements, resulting in a well-informed workforce and compliant business policies and processes.
- Optimised Compliance Systems and Processes: Efficiently manage and enhance OVO’s compliance systems, ensuring streamlined compliance monitoring, issue tracking and reporting, driving improved operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Improved First Line of Defense: Improve and refine first line of defense mechanisms across the business, leading to a stronger and more proactive compliance culture, reducing the risk of non-compliance incidents.
- Accurate and Insightful Reporting: Produce timely and accurate compliance performance reports that provide valuable insights and actionable recommendations to senior management, facilitating informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

You’ll be a successful Compliance Manager here at OVO if you…
- Have a strong knowledge and understanding of retail energy supplier obligations, including Standard Licence Conditions and relevant legislation
- Are capable of motivating, guiding, and developing a team of compliance analysts to meet strategic goals and navigate complex regulatory landscapes
- Can develop and maintain strategic partnerships across various levels of the organisation and with external regulators, enhancing OVO’s regulatory position and reputation
- Are able to interpret and implement detailed regulatory requirements effectively across the business, ensuring well-informed awareness and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations
- Thrive in a fast-paced and evolving industry, demonstrating the ability to ensure compliance amidst changing regulations and business needs
- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and persuasively to a variety of audiences
- Are capable of seeing the bigger picture and aligning compliance practices with broader corporate goals and missions, contributing to the overall success of OVO’s Plan Zero ambitions

We’ll pay you between £48,440 and £60,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
