Content Designer

Shanghai, China

What we’re looking for:

We’re hiring an experienced all round Content Writer to join our Chinese product team and help make complex global payment products easy – and maybe even delightful! - to use. This is a wide-ranging role, requiring a whole range of writing skills:

  • UX writing – writing clear, user-friendly content that guides customers through their journey on the Payoneer platform
  • Marketing text – working on local marketing materials to bring new domestic customers to Payoneer and drive retention for existing ones
  • Localization writing – Payoneer is a global company and you'll also be invited in translating and localizing English content for the local Chinese, and Greater Chinese market.
What does the role entail?
  • Creating Chinese content that follows our global voice and tone style guide who also speaking directly to the local market with all its cultural nuances and business requirements
  • Working on touchpoints such as website, online platform, mobile app, marketing and operational emails, SMS, WeChat mini-programs, social platforms and more
  • Working closely with Product Managers, Product Designers, Developers, Analysts, Product Marketing Managers – basically all stakeholders in the creation of a flow or feature
  • Collaborating with marketing and product marketing teams, compliance, legal, and business departments
  • Working closely with writers from marketing, product marketing, branding, and support. You don’t write in a vacuum, and you need to be able to see the user journey holistically, end-to-end. You’ll be a big part of making sure that journey is consistent and that it. Payoneer speaks in one voice on Chinese
  • Helping develop, implement, and consolidate our tone and voice, style-guide, and methodology
  • Conducting user research and usability studies to understand customer needs, pain points, and behaviors
  • Staying up to date with competitor platforms and flows, industry trends, and emerging technologies in financial technology and design

What kind of characteristics are we looking for?

Well, Payoneers are:

Accountable | Adaptable | Collaborative | Communicative | Fast Learners | Independent | Motivated | Problem Solvers | Resilient | Technically Proficient

Are you the right person for the role?

This is what we’re looking for:

  • You need to be able to jump from one writing style to another. Other people think it’s all just writing – but you know how different it all is.
  • We think that the ideal background is a professional content designer / UX writer with at least 2 years experience in a tech company – payments, banking, fintech a big advantage. But prove us wrong. Are you a copywriting guru who also does UX writing? Bring it on.
  • It doesn’t matter where you were born, but native-level Chinese and English are deal-breakers. Writing both Simplified and Traditional is even better.
  • You’re a champion for common-sense, clarity, transparency, and user experience. But you’re also able to collaborate with other teams and disciplines - this is essential. You know when to put your foot down, and you know when to let go. Being right is not always the most important thing.
  • You’re a word geek. Hierarchy, information architecture, glossaries, documentation – these things make you feel warm and fuzzy.
  • You’re familiar with the concept of user-centric design. We don’t expect you to be an actual designer, but you do know that the right words need to be in the right place at the right time – and you know how to collaborate with UX/Product designers to make this happen.
  • You know how to prioritize your workload. And you know how to prioritize a task – what needs to get done now, and what can wait for phase 2.
  • Proficiency in Figma is a must. Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure an advantage.
