Copy Editor | The Points Guy
- Copy edit and fact-check same-day news content and informational guides efficiently, working with assigning editors and writers across our aviation, travel, credit cards and points and miles teams to ensure high-quality content is available to our readers.
- Ensure content published on The Points Guy meets our standards for editorial integrity, accuracy and legal compliance while maintaining TPG’s tone of voice and style standards.
- Collaborate with teammates across TPG teams to ensure content for special projects like newsletters, email series and events adheres to our in-house style guidelines.
- Learn the ins and outs of the travel, credit cards and points and miles industries, including staying up to date on the content TPG publishes and the current events happening across the industries we cover.
- Work with other content operations team members and prioritize daily tasks and long-term projects, such as updating and maintaining our in-house style guide, to ensure high-quality, on-deadline deliverables to all stakeholders.
- Check published pieces for errors and update live articles as needed.
- At least 1 year of experience writing and editing content under deadline, either through freelancing, a full-time position or collegiate experience such as internships or student publications.
- An eye for detail and a solid understanding of grammar, spelling, punctuation and story construction. Familiarity with AP style is a must.
- Time-management skills, specifically the ability to multitask and produce quality work quickly and efficiently.
- Strong interest in the travel industry, especially loyalty programs and credit cards. Experience taking trips using points and miles is a plus but not required.
- Strong organizational and communication skills and an interest in being part of a collaborative team specializing in content operations.
- Experience with basic HTML and working in content management systems, especially WordPress.
- Familiarity with Google Sheets and Docs, plus collaborative project management tools (e.g., Asana, Slack).
- A candidate who is focused, patient, curious, eager to help others, open to feedback and a team player.
- Basic understanding of SEO best practices.
Compensation
- USA Compensation Range: $55,000 - $70,000*
- New York City Compensation Range: $55,000 - $84,000* *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
