Role: Creative Group Head (Art)

Location:Durban, South Africa (hybrid)

 

ROLE MISSION

Working in partnership with our client, the Creative Group Head will lead and create campaigns that are unexpected and purposeful. A person who can inspire teams and individuals to unlock their potential. An individual with the maturity, motivation and wisdom to convey the vision and values of the agency to staff. You will conceptualise and execute TTL creative solutions that consistently and clearly communicate our clients’ brand identities, positioning and messaging through all brand touch points. You have to be able to see the whole picture, build client relationships, problem-solve effectively, and communicate exceptionally well. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE

  • Conceptualise and execute award winning creative ideas
  • Lead and inspire Art Direction best practice
  • Manage visual identity of a brand brands
  • Interact with other agency teams/divisions to develop creative concepts
  • Create social, digital, print, TV, OOH and editorial layouts and oversee shoots
  • Ensure consistency and integration of art direction across all communication channels
  • Responsible for seeing the idea through the creative process to final sign off
  • Work to brief and show understanding and relevance to the target market
  • Mentor junior and mid art directors
  • Participate in new business initiatives, from identifying opportunities to pitch development.
  • Hands on creative development from concept to implementation. Provide quality assurance of all creative deliverables.
  • Oversee creative consultations with strategy and account teams to assure appropriate creative strategies, adequacy/accuracy of input, schedules, budgets, production support, necessary reviews, and client presentations.

WHAT SKILLS WILL HELP YOU BE SUCCESSFUL 

  • A tertiary degree or diploma in art direction and marketing/communications.
  • 8+ years of experience (preference will be given to candidates from agency environments)
  • Great leadership skills.
  • Strong portfolio of work.
  • Strong conceptual ability.
  • A solid understanding of the fundamentals in brand building.
  • Hungry to make award winning work.
  • Experience in through-the-line and digital advertising is crucial.
  • The ability to guide creative teams to conceptualise and execute compelling ideas.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to balance working on projects and overseeing teams
  • Willingness to review work and present to clients.
  • Being comfortable in coordinating work schedules with traffic.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with specific clients.
  • Eagerness to judge award shows and represent the agency at conferences.
  • Confidence to share knowledge with the agency.
  • An eagerness to have fun

Business Skills:

  • Be well versed in the Adobe Creative Suite software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects).
  • Superb inter-personal skills
  • Conceptually minded with the ability and agility to switch between multiple brand tones when developing work for different brands.
  • Ability to execute quickly and effectively; especially in response to trending topics
  • Strong time management and self-management skills – reliability is key
  • Proactive – ready to solve problems in the positive
  • Ability to engage directly with client, present ideas, take and implement feedback.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
