Position Overview:
Hi there! ✋ Ready for your next challenge?
As a Data Engineer, you will take ownership of a critical part of our data pipeline. You’ll be responsible for managing the ingestion, processing, and storage of large-scale data events, ensuring data quality, and building endpoints for new reporting and analytics features. You’ll work with cutting-edge technologies to help us innovate and streamline our activity tracking and reporting systems.
We are a dynamic team focused on creating a state-of-the-art scalable activity tracking, reporting, and an export solution that serves as a foundation for data innovation. Our services handle the entire data lifecycle, from event ingestion and processing to storage and reporting across various APIs and data platforms.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the pipeline from API Gateway to Kinesis, S3/Iceberg, and Athena, managing bronze and silver layers for the activity database in the Data Lake.
- Work on the Activity Capturing migration project, transitioning from our legacy events system in MySQL to S3/Iceberg and OpenSearch.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve reporting, analytics, and product features as we move from the migration phase to the feature development phase.
- Maintain and optimise the data pipeline, ensuring efficient storage and processing of events using technologies such as Iceberg, Athena, OpenSearch, dbt, Glue, & more.
- Provide support and guidance in the design and maintenance of data architectures and databases.
What We’re Looking For:
- Continuous integration and delivery mindset. You like taking ownership of your projects and have a healthy curiosity to learn more.
- Strong expertise in data pipeline management with tools and technologies such as:
- API Gateway, OpenAPI specifications
- Kinesis (Firehose/Streams)
- AWS Lambda (primarily Python-based)
- S3 storage (Apache Iceberg/Athena)
- CDK/CloudFormation (or other IAC)
- NodeJS (Typescript)
- DataLake/LakeFormation, dbt, Glue Data Catalog, etc.
- Experience in:
- OpenSearch
- Event ingestion, processing, and storage technologies
- Managing data quality and working with large-scale event-driven systems
- Clickhouse (optional)
Bonus:
- AWS Certifications such as “Certified Solutions Architect” and “Certified Data Engineer” are recommended as they cover a large portion of the expertise, but are not required as long as you can show comparable knowledge
