Chewy seeks a Data Scientist - II to join our CRM Data Science team in Boston, MA, Plantation, FL, or Bellevue, WA. What You'll Do:      

  • Develop algorithms using ML and statistical methods which match customers to ads, to increase relevance for customers and performance for marketers
  • Design, develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance models using AWS Sagemaker
  • Validate model performance using A/B tests
  • Discover new modeling opportunities using exploratory data analysis
  • Map business requirements and customer needs into technical requirements, including design, development, implementation, and testing
  • Partner closely with marketers, product managers, and software engineers in cross-functional teams.
  • Manage and execute entire projects from start to finish including data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, communication of insights, and production implementation.
  • Present proposals and results in a clear manner to stakeholders with various levels of technical knowledge

Soft skills you will need:

  • The ability to self-organize (jira/scrum), manage urgencies, work under constraints and prioritize delivery.
  • Strong fundamentals in problem-solving and working with rough requirements
  • Influencing marketers, finance, and other non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams and managing priorities among multiple projects

Hard skills you will need:

  • Strong coding experience in SQL and Python
  • Algorithm and model development and implementation experience using Sagemaker
  • Experience using workflow tools such as Airflow
  • Experience designing and executing a/b tests and multi-armed bandits
  • Experience in developing Bayesian, Regression, and CART models (deep learning is nice to have)
  • Experience in developing product recommendations for email, and web experiences
  • 6+ years of experience working as a data scientist or product analytics
  • MS or PhD, in Engineering, Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related discipline

Compensation & Benefits: 

Our salary range for a Data Scientist II position is $115,500.00 - $183,500.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
