DevOps & Site Reliability Engineer
We’re in an unbelievably exciting area of tech and are fundamentally reshaping the data storage industry. Here, you lead with innovative thinking, grow along with us, and join the smartest team in the industry.
This type of work—work that changes the world—is what the tech industry was founded on. So, if you're ready to seize the endless opportunities and leave your mark, come join us.
THE ROLE
Join the Engineering Productivity (EP) team and be the backbone of innovation for our FlashBlade product. You will blend DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to design, deploy, and maintain the critical infrastructure services used by our core engineering teams. This highly visible role is essential for accelerating product development, driving massive business impact by ensuring ultra-low latency and high uptime for the tools that build the future of data storage. You'll partner closely with FlashBlade engineers and global teams to deliver best-in-class reliability, performance, and automation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Elevate Service Reliability: Define, monitor, and enforce Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets for core test infrastructure applications (databases, APIs, message queues) to ensure reliability and guide development priorities toward improved system health.
- Drive Infrastructure Automation: Architect and implement scalable, automated solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to provision, manage, and scale enterprise virtualization and container orchestration environments (VMs, OpenStack, Kubernetes) across a global footprint.
- Optimize Developer Velocity: Own, troubleshoot, and maintain high-performance CI/CD pipelines, specifically supporting Jenkins and continuous deployment systems, to significantly increase engineering team velocity and reduce time-to-market for new FlashBlade features.
- Act as Critical Service Owner: Perform deep system debugging, performance analysis, and provide subject matter expertise for core services (DNS, LDAP, Kerberos, Nomad) to proactively manage risk and participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation to quickly restore service health and prevent future incidents.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Programming & Automation Expertise: Demonstrated coding ability in one or more modern languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java) for automation and service development, coupled with practical, hands-on experience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible or Terraform.
- SRE & Systems Debugging Mastery: A systematic, data-driven approach to problem-solving and debugging complex, distributed enterprise systems, including deep analytical skills in performance monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana) and service health analysis.
- Cloud Native & Linux Fundamentals: Comprehensive understanding and hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting Unix/Linux operating systems, container technologies (Docker), and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Nomad, OpenStack).
- Network & Core Service Management: Demonstrated ability to configure, manage, and support fundamental infrastructure services and protocols (DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Active Directory, Kerberos) and experience with network troubleshooting (Layer 2/Layer 3).
- Availability & Ownership: Willingness and ability to be an active participant in a 24x7 on-call rotation using a "follow-the-sun" model (approximately 1 week every 2-3 months) to maintain system reliability.
- We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Bangalore office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
