The Director, Event Marketing will be responsible for developing the Databricks Third Party Event strategy, building new and optimizing existing programs that maximize impact on various targets. This individual will also support overall Global Events strategic initiatives, analytics, field alignment, and long term planning. They must have a proven track record of hiring and leading a best-in-class team of talented, highly effective event marketers. This role requires an enthusiastic individual with strong communication and organizational skills to lead the team in planning, marketing, and executing our Tier 1 third party sponsored event programs at scale. The candidate should also enjoy developing strong relationships with their sales and marketing stakeholders and thrive on creating innovative, out-of-the-box event experiences.

The impact you will have:

  • Annual Event Marketing strategy defined for tier 1 third party events based on ROI analysis, strategic relationships, business imperatives, program results, and stakeholder collaboration
  • Fully optimized event program strategy derived from evaluation of target audiences, historical program performance, defined operating models, sales accountability, and analysis of conversion rates
  • Best practices shared with global counterparts and the rest of the Marketing organization
  • Meet or exceed defined targets for third party sponsorships to drive engagement, sales meetings, activate the Databricks brand, increase conversion rates, and generate leads and pipeline.
  • Development of scalable and efficient high-impact programs, processes, analysis and sales enablement standards
  • Seamless flow of leads from events into marketing automation systems and to sales team stakeholders to maximize pipeline generation and conversion
  • Strong partnerships with key sales and cross-functional stakeholders 
  • Hire and facilitate the growth and development of team members through coaching and mentorship

What we look for:

  • 10+ years’ experience managing events, including at least 7 years running event marketing programs and 5 years managing people
  • Proven track record of building/managing high-performing teams
  • Experience having pipeline building responsibility and accountability for sales
  • Experience holding/managing large event budgets
  • Experience building new event programs, documentation, and enablement of cross-functional teams at scale
  • Experience driving increased demand and conversions for events
  • Strong background in data management/analytics and metrics and reporting out to key stakeholders
  • Strong project, communication, and time management skills with the ability to effectively manage numerous projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Ability to use CRM (SFDC), data visualization tools (Tableau), and marketing automation systems (Marketo)
  • Travel for events will be required (when appropriate)

 

Pay Range Transparency

Databricks is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.  Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
