The role

Reporting to the Senior Director of Downstream Operations, this position plays a crucial role in our operations and provides the opportunity to oversee a logistics network of 15 hubs and a fleet of 500 (e-)vans across the Benelux. The work is exciting, impactful and ever-evolving. You will solve complex logistics issues facing the business today, but also build on a long-term strategy of further modernising and future proofing our logistics network. It’s a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in further developing the Benelux Logistics department (7 direct reports). You are an inspiring leader, have strong strategic and analytical skills and together with your team you contribute to our long-term business strategy. To achieve this you have a sound logistics background, management experience and you are a team player. 

What you’ll do
  • You will be part of the Operational Leadership team and closely collaborate with them to implement new strategies and ways of working that support the growth of our business and are in alignment with the strategy of HelloFresh.
  • Lead the ongoing development and implementation of a data-driven, scalable logistics strategy for the company, including building support and consensus for your approach, as well as the management and execution of operational and tactical work related to this strategy.
  • Partner with operational leaders and the logistics team to identify and prioritize key logistics initiatives, with a primary focus on achieving profitability metrics such as ‘average cost per box to ship’ and quality metrics such as ‘logistics error rate’.
  • Diagnose areas of improvement across our network; develop and continuously execute interventions that deliver tangible impact to scale, efficiency and budget.
  • Establish world-class supplier relationship management practices. Build policies and procedures for reviewing supplier performance against contractual obligations, service levels and business expectations.
  • Constantly drive cost savings and increased value by seizing opportunities in the external market, and through the successful negotiation of vendor contracts and partnerships.
  • Closely collaborate with our Product and Engineering teams to define the relevant Tech roadmaps and evaluate opportunities and deploy new systems and technologies in support of an increasingly complex supply chain and logistics network.
  • Strategically manage and optimize a large fleet of electric refrigerated vans by embracing a strong understanding of Total Cost of Ownership principles and their application in fleet management.
  • Lead and inspire our frontline workforce, ensuring exceptional service and efficiency. This role requires a strong focus on people management, driver engagement, and fostering a positive and safe work environment.

What you’ll bring

  • 8+ years of leadership experience in Logistics, Operations Strategy or Supply Chain Management.
  • Managed middle- and last-mile delivery operations, ideally both external partners as well as in-house operations. Performance management experience of a larger driver pool as a plus. 
  • Demonstrated track record of successful negotiation and maintenance of high-value supplier contracts and partnerships.
  • Proven ability to effectively motivate, develop and manage a high performing team.
  • Driven results with strong emphasis on cost-reduction and quality control initiatives.
  • Extremely strong analytical skills with a passion for using data to innovate effective solutions to address business needs.
  • Excitement for working in a fast-paced start-up-like environment with a high level of ambiguity and change.
  • Dutch language proficiency is a strong plus

This role is a hybrid position and requires going to our office in Nieuwegein twice per week. As this is a key operational role, the position also requires travelling to our Hubs and our Amsterdam HQ.
