Director of Commercial Finance
We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments.
About the roleWe are looking for a strategic operator and business partner to serve as our Director of Commercial Finance. In this highly visible role, you will own the financial relationship with our Commercial leaders across our core and emerging verticals including Automotive, Trucking, Construction, Mining, and Agriculture.
This is a foundational role at a hyper-growth, pre-IPO technology company. You will move beyond traditional FP&A to drive the commercial engine of the business, helping to structure complex deals, defining long-term pricing frameworks, and developing market theses to guide strategic investment and capital allocation. You will bridge the gap between Silicon Valley software speed and the rigorous demands of global vehicle and industrial manufacturing.
At Applied Intuition, you will:- Serve as the primary finance partner to Commercial GMs across multiple verticals, managing full P&L visibility, forecasting, and resource allocation for each business unit
- Lead the financial strategy for complex, high-value commercial deals and design scalable pricing architectures; partnering with Sales and Legal to structure and negotiate multi-year agreements, utilizing models that include SaaS subscriptions, licensing, and usage-based arrangements
- Act as the liaison between Vertical GMs and Product/Engineering teams by translating customer requirements and product roadmaps into clear financial implications, advising on resourcing needs, margin impact, and proactive investment requirements
- Analyze market potential in existing sectors and validate entry into new verticals to understand the financial viability of expansion strategies
- Establish the financial rhythm for the commercial organization, managing annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and monthly performance reviews to ensure data-driven decision-making and accountability
- Recruit, manage, and mentor a high-performing team of commercial finance professionals capable of supporting rapid vertical expansion and complex customer requirements
- 10+ years of finance or related experience with at least 5+ years in automotive, autonomy, mobility, or industrial manufacturing
- The ability to comfortably discuss Bill of Materials (BOM), Tier 1 supply chains, and OEM production cycles
- A proven track record of owning a full P&L for a business unit or division, not just reporting on it
- Driven profitability, managed opex/capex, and influenced strategic direction
- Hands-on experience structuring and negotiating complex B2B contracts, preferably involving licensing or hybrid hardware/software elements
- Confidence building processes from scratch in a hyper-growth environment where the playbook is still being written
- Experience with SaaS business models (ARR, NRR, churn) and ability to understand how to transition hardware-centric customers to software-defined value propositions
- MBA or advanced degree in finance, business, or engineering
