The Device Team at Tools for Humanity is responsible for all aspects of driving the Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Logistics, Physical Security, Field Operational Compliance, and Technical Support of our world-class hardware devices reaching billions of people globally. About The Opportunity:
Tools for Humanity is looking for an Electronics Hardware Engineer to help work on developing, testing, and upgrading our flagship hardware devices, including the Orb. This role will work closely with Engineering (AI, Software & Mechanics), Manufacturing, and Industrial Design to create and produce cutting-edge technologies at scale.
Core Responsibilities:
- Development, design, and implementation of electrical systems and circuits.
- Creation of circuit layouts and designs using E-CAD (Altium).
- Qualification, verification, and validation of developed hardware.
- Conducting measurements with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other measuring equipment.
- Commissioning and repair of electrical assemblies.
- Programming of microcontrollers in C with real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS and Zephyr) for testing and applications
Required:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar qualification.
- 2-4 years of experience in planning, circuit development, and layout creation with E-CAD, ideally Altium or EAGLE.
- Familiarity with measuring equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Soldering experience for assembly and repair of electronic assemblies.
- Programming skills in C for microcontroller development.
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), preferably FreeRTOS and Zephyr.
- Knowledge in the development and integration of embedded Linux systems.
- Good English proficiency in both spoken and written form.
- Strong drive & work ethic to drive projects to completion.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
Nice-to-Haves:
- Knowledge in Python for automating testing procedures and development tasks.
- Experience with Device Tree for configuring embedded systems.
