Our engineers contribute to the engineering culture within and outside of GoCardless: they contribute to Open Source Software projects (see our Github), and share learnings in post-mortems, conferences and on our blog.

Our technologies: We endeavour to build simple, reliable systems and we believe in using the best technologies for each task. Technologies we use across GoCardless include: 

Ruby on Rails, Golang, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Postgres, BigQuery, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Google Cloud (GCP).

 

The role

As an Engineering Manager at GoCardless, you’ll be helping us build creative and fulfilled product engineering teams, technically leading them to become the best engineers they can be.

You will lead talented and creative engineers who build products and systems they are proud of. You will push for exceptionally high-quality work and empower our engineers to make a big impact.

You will have responsibility for 12 engineers working on multiple separate work streams, delivering complex projects with huge impact.

This role is a fixed-term contract, covering maternity leave. This contract will last for 12 months and start around June/July.

  • Professional experienced in coding - one of the following, or similar: Ruby, Python, Go, Java, Javascript, C#, with a commitment to building reliable, well-tested systems
  • Someone excited about supporting and growing a group of engineers, helping them become the best engineers they can be
  • Somebody able to effectively communicate - including technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaboration and cross-functional work - build and maintain great relationships with Product Managers, Designers, Data Analysts and Engineers.
  • High agency - We’re after people who aren’t afraid of a challenge and will take ownership of problems they come across, help to resolve them and adapt to a constantly changing environment.
