Customer Benefits focuses on delivering consistent value to customers across all HelloFresh brands globally, covering two key domains: Benefits and Pricing. The Benefits domain enhances the customer experience by offering value-added services and personalized perks, while the Pricing domain manages scalable and dynamic pricing strategies across different regions and customer segments. Together, these domains ensure that every customer enjoys a seamless, transparent pricing experience and meaningful benefits, making interactions with HelloFresh both rewarding and competitive.

As an Engineering Manager in the Customer Benefits tribe, focusing on the Pricing domain, you will lead and empower a team of talented engineers responsible for building and scaling dynamic pricing solutions across all HelloFresh brands globally. Your role will involve driving the technical strategy, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance of pricing services, and collaborating closely with product, data, and business teams to deliver optimized pricing experiences. These capabilities are an important building block of our Growth strategy at HelloFresh and contribute directly to the success of our mission to change the way people eat forever. 

Lettuce share what this role will be responsible for

  • Lead and mentor a team of back-end engineers in developing and enhancing pricing services built on a distributed architecture.
  • Drive the migration of key pricing services from a monolithic architecture to a microservices-based approach, ensuring minimal disruption and high availability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and data analytics, to define and prioritize technical requirements and product features that enhance the customer pricing experience.
  • Establish best practices for software development, including code quality, testing, and deployment processes, to ensure robust and scalable solutions.
  • Analyze system performance and identify areas for improvement, implementing optimization strategies to enhance service reliability and efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team, encouraging experimentation and the adoption of new technologies.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on project status, roadblocks, and team achievements.

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role managing back-end development teams.
  • Technical Skills: Strong expertise in back-end technologies and programming languages (e.g., Go, Java), with a solid understanding of distributed architecture and microservices design principles.
  • Migration Experience: Proven experience in migrating services from a monolithic architecture to a microservices-based system, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and technical acumen.
  • Cloud Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) to support scalable and reliable service deployment.
  • Agile Methodologies: Experience working in Agile development environments, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage project timelines effectively.
  • Leadership Qualities: Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills, with a passion for developing talent and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Customer Focus: A commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-centric solutions that drive business success and enhance user experience.
