FinOps Engineer Lead

We are looking for a FinOps Engineer that will be part of the R&D Foundations Group. As part of your role, you’ll lead cost monitoring and analysis, identify and drive potential cost savings and forecast future infrastructure cost needs in our growing R&D department.
You will work closely with our Engineering and Finance teams to ensure we maintain our cloud cost spending and environment stability through data analysis, consulting, visualization, and creative problem-solving.
Ultimately, you should be able to manage all aspects of AWS cost and other SAAS tools across R&D operations to the extent that we can optimize costs and improve budget planning..
You will work closely with the CFO and VP of R&D to ensure cost efficiency, budget adherence, and financial transparency across our cloud services
Responsibilities
- Analyze, monitor, and report on cloud usage and trends, identifying cost-saving opportunities, improving efficiency, and leading the development and maturity of FinOps principles in-house.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop and implement cloud cost optimization strategies, ensuring alignment between technical activities and financial objectives.
- Create financial models to calculate TCO of new projects.
- Implement and maintain financial governance and controls across cloud platforms, utilizing automation for cost trend optimization, anomaly detection, and accurate forecasting.
- Work closely with procurement and cloud vendors to manage contract costs, ensuring effective negotiation and alignment with organizational financial goals.
- Educate and train teams on FinOps best practices, promoting financial accountability and fostering collaboration across departments.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years as a FinOps/DevOps Engineer or in an equivalent role.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS essential, Azure/GCP advantage)
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Quicksight, Tableau, Sisense).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with experience in leading solutions end to end and encourage management and cross-departmental collaboration.
Advantage
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications is an advantage
- Familiarity with SAAS Procurement Process and Negotiations
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and CI/CD Development tools.
- Knowledge of Multi Cloud Deployment and cloud financial management
- Knowledge of large scale Big Data systems, databases and other SAAS tools and understand the principal cost factors.
- Cloud Solution Architect Certification / Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate
