YOUR MISSION
The FinTech Legal counsel is responsible for providing legal guidance on the development and implementation of a broad variety of financial products, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations across multiple markets and regions Glovo's operates in. The responsibilities of this team also include assessing legal risks associated with commercial transactions and partnerships, as well as working closely with cross-functional teams to navigate regulatory frameworks and support strategic initiatives in the fintech space.
THE JOURNEY
- You support our Legal Team in Spain, a team of international lawyers that is responsible for all legal matters pertaining to Glovo's substantially growing FinTech business;
- In cooperation with legal teams in our regions and markets, you support Glovo's global FinTech initiatives from a legal perspective and you conduct complex legal assessments pertaining to individual projects in the areas of FinTech, payments and financial services;
- You will be responsible for overseeing or assisting other regulated activities such as business licenses, regulated product and services;
- You provide product counseling to FinTech initiatives, as well as other regulated services in order to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as internal Glovo's standards;
- You help to negotiate partnerships with licensed institutions in order to ensure timely go-live of e-wallet, lending or other FinTech products (e.g. BNPL and Vendor Financing) within the Glovo's ecosystem and you provide support in connection with M&A projects and other corporate transactions related to FinTech;
- You use your expertise on financial regulation to prepare and supervise regulatory authorization projects (e.g. PI or EMI license projects, Business licenses) in different markets worldwide;
- You work closely with our product teams as well as Glovo's management team in further and drive expansion in different jurisdictions, especially in the areas of FinTech, payments and financial services;
- You will be supporting the business sales and procurement functions of Glovo's with drafting and reviewing a broad range of commercial agreements pertaining to our FinTech business including merchant services agreements, software development and SAAS agreements, terms and conditions and vendor agreements;
- As part of Glovo's legal team, you liaise with and coordinate external law firms worldwide, you manage administrative proceedings and investigations and you act as contact person for regulators in different markets worldwide.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE RIDE
- You have completed your legal studies
- You have at least 3 years of experience in the in-house legal team of a bank, a FinTech firm (payment institution, e-money institution, PISP or similar) and/or the financial regulation practice of a reputable international law firm;
- You have significant expertise and demonstrable interest in financial regulation, specifically in Payments Law (e.g. PSD2 and EMD2 Directives);
- You have experience in leading legal projects or in overseeing the work performed by other colleagues;
- You have great communication skills in English and Spanish (both verbal and written) and you are able to design presentations and convey complex legal concepts and arguments in simple words for an audience of non-lawyers;
- You are an absolute team player with excellent interpersonal skills and you are enthusiastic about working on multinational matters and financial technology projects;
- You are based in Spain or you are willing to relocate to Barcelona as soon as practicable.
