Food Safety & Quality Manager

You will ...
  • Be accountable for maintaining Quality Error Rate to departmental goal, labor minutes per box, completing inbound inspection activities correctly and quickly, conducting warehouse checks, maintaining internal audit %s and supporting internal prep activities in collaboration with operations on product pick errors
  • Responsible for collaborating on implementation and modifications to programs with other FSQA leaders. 
  • Be responsible for creating a strong culture of food safety and quality through process execution and enhancement, including advocating for quality throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead internal and external food safety audit programs to include; SQF audit, internal mock audits, USDA, and FDA audits.
  • Conduct RCAs to investigate increased error rates and non-conformance events to develop and  drive correction actions.
  • Manage a highly effective Quality Food Safety team including: managing the schedule, onboarding, training, time off, VER/VTO, hiring, performance management and keeping to budget. This also includes providing coaching, feedback, and support to build a highly performing and engaged team with a deep bench of expertise and knowledge.  
  • Provide the quality food safety team with all necessary tools, training, equipment and technology required to be successful.
  • Use the resources available to you and your team to be successful - including internal teams who can provide support for data analysis, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, training, and app development.
  • Be accountable for sending accurate and verified information to partnering teams, including procurement tickets, fulfillment metrics, food safety audit CAs, and food safety actions with site operational leadership. 
  • Escalate opportunities quickly, accurately, and to the right audience so they can be resolved efficiently and effectively. 
  • Represent the  team as the quality leader of the Newark Distribution Center: own and report on internal metrics, partner with peers and site leadership to accomplish departmental  goals.
  • Build relationships with external teams, e.g., Fulfillment Ops, Logistics, Procurement, IT, Field Learning, Safety, HR, etc.

You have.......
  • Associate’s degree or related management work experience.
  • At least 2+ years of work experience in quality assurance, should be combined with a demonstrated track-record of accomplishments as a quality assurance supervisor, and with satisfying customers in technology-driven, developing companies.
  • Well-versed in quality systems, food safety regulations, HACCP, GFSI, GMPs
  • Quality or Ingredient Certifications a plus (ASQ, SQF, AIB etc.); SQF Practitioner certification preferred; Preventive Controls Qualified Individual preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point), Google app (Gmail, drive, sheets, etc.) and Tableau capabilities

Newark, NJ Pay Range$114,450—$135,000 USD
