The Community You Will Join:

• Airbnb’s Search Feed team is responsible for the front-door to Airbnb’s guest search experience. The team aims to help users make decisions effectively by surfacing contextual and relevant information, providing ways to narrow and expand searches, and showing personalized results. Some of the team’s past projects include Guest Favorites, Airbnb Categories, and Split Stays.
• The team is cross-discipline with expertise in iOS, Android, web, and backend development. It works closely with backend search teams, platform teams, and partners in design, product, data science, and marketing to deliver new search experiences for Airbnb’s guests.

We’re looking for talented engineers who can fluidly work across the stack to build best-in-class user experiences. You will collaborate across functions and across the engineering org to build new search features and make crucial improvements to existing ones. You will contribute to (and drive!) foundational improvements that improve developer efficiency, page performance, product accessibility, and system observability.

A Typical Day:

• Independently collaborate with cross-functional partners to align on product requirements, project milestones, and execution plans.
• Prototype new features to assess technical feasibility across the stack, collect partner feedback, and align on ideal product solutions.
• Lay out and execute on end-to-end technical plans; from component and API design to integrations with backend search systems.
• Performance benchmarking and profiling to understand and root-cause regressions in our product experience.
• Support the team’s efforts to improve code quality, operational excellence, and knowledge sharing.

Your Expertise:

• 2+ years of software development experience building products for the web
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
• Experience working with one or more backend languages (Java preferred)
• Experience working with TypeScript/JS, React, GraphQL, and REST APIs
• Comfortable working across the stack, implementing and shipping changes on both the frontend and backend.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work well within an engineering organization and across functions.
• Passionate about design and building UX products. You bring flexibility to collaboration with design and product partners by presenting tradeoffs and iterating to the ideal solution.

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
