The Head of HR Technology and HR Operations plays a pivotal role in innovating and implementing our HR strategy by leveraging technology, optimizing processes, and enhancing operational efficiency. This strategic leadership position requires a problem solver who is creative yet grounded in reality and who can drive continuous improvement in HR systems and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Leadership:

  • Lead and inspire our dedicated teams and people managers within HR Systems & Technology, HR Operations, People Analytics, & Compliance.
  • Create and implement a comprehensive HR technology strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Select, implement, and optimize HR systems and tools, including HRIS (Workday), and other relevant platforms.
  • Drive the integration of emerging HR technologies and trends, including AI, to enhance employee experience, data analytics, and decision-making.
  • HR Operations Management:
  • Lead the support model for responding to employee questions about HR programs and processes with accuracy, efficiency, and excellent employee experience.
  • Streamline and standardize HR processes across our global organization including, but not limited to, employee onboarding, offboarding, and compliance.
  • Audit HR metrics to identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement in operational performance.
  • HR Transformation, Data and Change Management:
  • Lead change initiatives related to HR technology implementations, process improvements, and organizational restructuring.
  • Drive adoption and utilization of new HR systems and tools through effective organizational change strategies and training programs.
  • Lead the People Analytics team that applies HR data to generate actionable insights and drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Champion a culture of continuous innovation within the HR function.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure HR policies, procedures, and practices align with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Mitigate risks related to data privacy, security, and compliance through robust governance and controls.
  • Labor Relations Oversight:
  • Supervise local HR operations professionals who will coordinate with others in HR, and the business, to ensure appropriate visibility and planning around labor relations matters, including Workers Council negotiations, contract administration, and grievance resolution.
  • Provide strategic guidance to management and HR staff on labor relations issues, ensuring alignment with organizational values and legal requirements.
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field required. Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
    • Proven experience (12+ years) in HR technology leadership roles, with a background in HRIS implementation and management or HR Operations.
    • Expertise in HR operations management, process optimization, and organizational change.
    • Experience collaborating with Legal on HR laws, regulations, data privacy and compliance.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR data, generate insights, and drive informed decision-making.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate optimally across all levels of the organization.

    Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.  

    The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

    These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.  

    An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

    Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.  Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.
