Position Overview

The Junior Analyst will be based in Baltimore and will support StepStone’s Portfolio Analytics and Reporting (‘SPAR’) Department with a focus in data governance and client service reporting for the venture capital asset class. The Junior Analyst will enforce data integrity best practices and maintain the appropriate infrastructure for data extraction, transformation, and loading (“ETL”) across two of StepStone’s proprietary applications. This role will also support the venture capital group in quarterly reporting for internal and external stakeholders. This will be a Full-time (40 hours per week) 16-week paid opportunity with a possibility to extend for additional 16-week terms or transition to a permanent role.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work closely with the venture capital SPAR team to coordinate the various aspects of the ETL process
  • Develop a deep understanding of both reporting applications and perform tasks such as creating new records, running data integrity checks, and maintaining a reliable mapping of records across systems
  • Assist with the quarterly performance reporting process
  • Leverage data to prepare reports in response to internal and external inquiries\
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Investor Relations, and Marketing Teams to prepare special reporting for marketing materials and ad-hoc limited partner requests
  • Execute multiple large-scale periodic data uploads in an accurate and timely manner
  • Run periodic data integrity checks to ensure there are no discrepancies across systems
  • Produce periodic progress reports of various KPIs including new records created, status of data uploads, gaps in record mapping, and others
  • Other duties as required to ensure data records are complete and mapped across systems

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting related field
  • Demonstrated record of academic success
  • Experience in financial services; Private Markets experience preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extremely strong attention to detail to maintain data integrity
  • A highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team context
  • Ability to operate in a demanding and fast-paced environment and balance multiple tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate Excel knowledge including pivot tables and lookup functions
  • Familiarity with Database & Data Visualization solutions
  • Experience in SQL and/or Python a plus

Salary Range is $25 per hour
