The Junior Group Accountant is a key member of the Accounting and Control team - the engine room of the Secret Escapes finance function. Secret Escapes has operations across the globe, and this broad and varied role will play a key part in accounting, reporting and control activities for the Secret Escapes Group. 

 

You will be expected to be an essential support to the Finance team and the wider business, through supporting the Group accounting processes and effective management of the Group accounting system (Netsuite). This role will also support the Group Treasury function, including streamlining existing processes and assisting with the compliance of the Group’s Senior Facilities Agreement.  

 

Your responsibilities will also include supporting the team with our non-trading overseas subsidiaries, ensuring they comply with local rules, tax regulations and statutory filing requirements, as well as answering queries on entity reporting across the wider finance team.

Things you’ll be working on

  • Helping to define policies and processes for entity reporting across multiple subsidiaries - and supporting their local, statutory and tax reporting. Liaising regularly with the local accounting firms to ensure we are compliant with local filing requirements
  • Supporting processes for intercompany GLs and below EBITDA balances including (amongst others): leases, exceptionals, CAPEX, financing costs, FX, and share-based payments 
  • Supporting the Group statutory audit including contributing to the Group consolidation process
  • Supporting the month end close process, including balance sheet reconciliations and monthly management accounts 
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the Group’s Senior Facilities Agreement to ensure compliance is maintained effectively and efficiently
  • Assisting with Group cash flow forecasting and foreign exchange requirement planning  
  • Working with our Group Brands’ finance teams to ensure accurate and consistent reporting (we have acquired subsidiaries in Ireland, Poland and the Czech Republic)
  • Support compliance and other stakeholder reporting to external parties, including Group auditors, banks, investors and ONS 
  • Helping to improve and develop data capture, systems and processes appropriate to the business 
  • Ad hoc financial analysis and projects as required

 

The deal breakers

  • Part-qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Strong academic record and technical experience of IFRS
  • Experience with foreign entities and multicurrency consolidations
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively with colleagues at all levels of management as well as external accounting firms
  • Excellent user of Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP and PivotTables)
  • Confident with Statutory accounts preparation and compliance workstreams.

Someone who is keen to have real ownership within a business, a technically confident team player with excellent communication skills. A self-starter who can deliver high quality outputs independently, prioritise and multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and shows excellent attention to detail, whilst being pragmatic and commercially aware.
