Manager, FC Worker's Compensation II

In this capacity, you will manage TPA relationship, work to drive down costs as well as manage cases for Chewy fulfillment, pharmacy, studio, transportation, Chewy vet care and customer service centers. Responsibilities:
- Oversee workers’ compensation claims processes and procedures to ensure they are within the network standard.
- Primary point of contact and resource for employees, management team, insurance carriers, attorneys, Third Party Administrator (TPA) and medical providers on company workers’ compensation policy, procedures, and regulations.
- May coordinate or assist with safety programs focused on injury prevention.
- Facilitate accommodations for team members requiring light duty job paths with site leadership.
- Partner with TPA account manager scheduling quarterly audit of workers’ compensation claims.
- Develop, recommend, and implement training and education programs.
- Work with the management teams to streamline current processes and find program improvement opportunities.
- Manage and monitor WC programs, as assigned.
- Initiate claims status discussions with TPA to discuss claim handling improvements and/or expedite resolution.
- Maintain a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly standard of work.
- Assist in the development and management of company Workers’ Compensation policies, claims, vendor relationships, and return to work programs.
- Assist in preparing special claims servicing instructions focusing on specific needs and taking into consideration the structure of Chewy’s WC programs.
- Analysis of the Workers Compensation historical loss data to assist with management of Workers Compensation process.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations regarding management of the Chewy’s Workers’ Compensation claims program including managing internal and external contracts (TPA, Counsel, medical providers, etc.)
- Provide strategic direction and recommendation to leadership about WC policy and procedures to improve performance and mitigate severity and frequency of losses.
- Develop, recommend, and implement workers' compensation policies and procedures that mitigate claims and premium costs.
- Conduct training on workers’ compensation best practice and company procedures.
- Maintain communication with the injured worker while tracking their recovery progress.
- Oversee and ensure an efficient records maintenance system for workers' compensation claims and related information, data, and activities in collaboration with the TPA.
- Work with HR to process and track leaves/FMLA and assist in their return to work.
- Working with Safety, Operations and HR to transition injured workers into light duty return to work options.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10+ years’ experience in workers’ compensation claims management. Expert level knowledge in coverage and claim evaluation.
- Thrives working in a high pace environment.
- Project Management skills including the ability to develop and execute robust project plans/programs.
- Results oriented with strong internal customer service emphasis and focus.
- Advanced training, certification, or education in claims management.
- Strong understanding of state and federal employment law as it relates to workers’ compensation, FMLA and, ADA.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively to meet given time parameters.
- Collaborative team player, dedicated to achieving department and company objectives.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on communication and problem resolution.
- Strong work ethic, reliable, self-motivated with a positive attitude.
- Competent in computer programs/skills: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), Smart Sheet, Intelex, and general internet applications.
- Must be willing to work occasional uncommon hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays and answer calls after hours.
- Travel requirement is less than 20%
Compensation & Benefits:
Our salary range for a FC Workers COmpensation Manager II position is $75,500.00 - $113,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.

Non-exempt hourly team members accrue paid time off (PTO) while salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Non-exempt hourly team members in Fulfillment Centers and Customer Service are also eligible for additional unplanned unpaid time off (UTO). Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
