 About the role

We’re seeking an Onchain Data Analyst to join our Finance organization, focused on translating complex onchain execution into clear, durable financial truth. This role operates at the intersection of onchain analytics, economic interpretation, and financial systems, and serves as a critical bridge across Treasury, Accounting, FP&A, and Data & Engineering.

You will own how economically meaningful onchain activity is identified, interpreted, and structured so it can be reliably recognized, reconciled, and audited — including activity that is not fully supported by existing digital asset accounting tooling such as Cryptio. While partnering closely with Treasury and Accounting, this role is not embedded in Treasury execution or the accounting close function, allowing for independent judgment and objective interpretation as our onchain asset operations scale across chains, protocols, and asset types.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into blockchain data, exercising judgment in ambiguous scenarios, and translating complex onchain activity into clear, auditable accounting outcomes — with an eye toward automation and scalability.

Why this Role

  • Our onchain asset operations are scaling across a complex, multichain environment where economic reality cannot be fully abstracted by any single platform or accounting system. While digital accounting platforms provide foundational measurement, they do not capture every asset, network, or transaction type — particularly DeFi interactions, multi-step protocol flows, and contract-driven events where economic intent is not explicit onchain.
  • This role exists to close that gap by establishing durable processes and artifacts that translate onchain execution into reliable, audit-ready financial representation. By owning this translation layer, the role reduces reactive reconciliation, enables proactive identification of accounting and tooling implications, and allows Treasury and Accounting to operate at speed without sacrificing accuracy or control as the organization scales.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain structured records of Treasury actions (pre-execution where feasible or reconstructed post when not), including economic intent, assets and networks involved, expected accounting treatment, and known tooling coverage limitations, to support downstream reconciliation and audit.
  • Maintain a structured off-platform ledger for unsupported or complex onchain activity, designed to reconcile into Cryptio and downstream accounting systems and to provide a clear audit trail for balances and transactions not natively supported by tooling.
  • Partner with Treasury and Accounting to ensure the completeness and accuracy of onchain wallet activity (Etherscan or other blockchain explorers, DeBank, Dune) flowing into accounting systems, including identification and resolution of gaps where activity is not fully supported by Cryptio.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of onchain wallet activity across supported and unsupported assets and networks, including DeFi protocols and multi-step onchain interactions.
  • Interpret raw transaction-level and smart contract activity to determine economic substance, including classification between principal, revenue, rewards, fees, penalties, and other event types.
  • Translate complex onchain activity into clear, auditable economic narratives suitable for Finance Leadership, Accounting, and Audit.
  • Partner closely with Accounting to ensure that activity exported or synced from Cryptio is correctly classified, valued, and booked in NetSuite.
  • Produce structured reconciliation artifacts and documentation for off-platform or unsupported activity, including transaction evidence, valuation logic, and accounting treatment.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Partner with Treasury to review and assess novel onchain actions prior to execution, including new protocols, assets, chains, or transaction types, to identify accounting implications and tooling limitations in advance. This pre-execution review is advisory in nature and designed to be lightweight and proportional to risk, and does not function as an execution approval or veto.
  • Develop and enhance internal workflows and controls across Cryptio, FloQast, NetSuite, and supporting data sources.
  • Support audit readiness by preparing transaction-level documentation, balance substantiation, and explanatory materials related to onchain activity.
  • Collaborate with Data & Engineering teams to identify repeatable onchain event patterns, standardize classifications, improve data ingestion, and progressively reduce manual interpretation and reconciliation effort through partial automation.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and data skills; advanced user of Excel / Google Sheets.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and reconcile onchain data, including smart contract interactions and multi-step transaction flows.
  • High attention to detail, strong ownership mindset, and comfort operating in environments with incomplete or imperfect data.
  • Ability to clearly explain complex onchain activity to non-technical stakeholders across Accounting, Finance, and Audit.

Bonus Points

  • Experience reconciling high volumes of onchain activity across DeFi, staking, liquid staking, restaking, or bridging.
  • Familiarity with crypto accounting concepts, including valuation, realized/unrealized gains, gas fees, and protocol incentives.
  • Experience working with NetSuite, FloQast, Cryptio, or similar digital asset accounting platforms.
  • Background in Big 4, audit support, or high-growth crypto / fintech environments.
  • Working understanding of U.S. GAAP as it relates to digital assets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related field.

How is Success Measured

  • Reduction in manual reconciliation effort and close-cycle friction.
  • Fewer accounting surprises related to unsupported assets or transaction types.
  • Improved audit efficiency and clarity around onchain balances and activity.
  • Strong cross-functional trust between Treasury, Accounting, and Finance.
  • Progressive reduction in manual, ad hoc interpretation of recurring onchain transaction types through standardization or automation.
