About us

At GoCardless we believe bank payments are the best way to pay and get paid. We also believe that bank account data is a powerful tool to make better, faster decisions. We’re making it easy to use both- for businesses everywhere.

GoCardless is used for domestic and international payments by 85,000+ organisations and counting, processing more than $30 billion across 30 countries. We’re an award-winning London based fintech, with additional offices in Riga, Paris and Melbourne.

The role

The Operational Resilience Manager is responsible for business continuity planning and testing at GoCardless. That means supporting the VP Engineering in developing the ongoing Operational Resilience Programme by:

  • Building an understanding of the key business scenarios of concern;
  • Understanding the impact of failure and agreeing impact tolerances with business stakeholders;
  • Working with stakeholders across the business to write a Business Continuity Plan;
  • Ensuring that teams have their own local plans where critical services are concerned; and
  • Building and running a regular schedule of tests - ranging from tabletop exercises to technical failover testing.
  • GoCardless already has the ISO22301 certification, so you will work closely with our Senior Assurance Manager to make sure that we retain that certification. You will also be responsible for our annual reporting to the FCA on our resilience position and ensuring that we meet other regulatory requirements on resilience (e.g. DORA).

    What excites you

    • You care deeply about building resilience into an organisation
    • You enjoy understanding and exploring business processes and take pride in continuous improvement
    • You are comfortable thinking ahead about what could happen - crafting “what if scenarios” to help business leaders understand risk
    • You are both a natural collaborator, who believes in amplifying the value of others, and a highly motivated and organised self-starter.

    What excites us

    • You have a number of years experience in building business continuity plans and have ideally taken the lead on this at a company level
    • You have led continuity testing at a team or group level
    • You have worked in an environment that either had or was working towards ISO certifications
    • You have an open mind on how to get things done (we are a Fintech and we don’t want bureaucracy for the sake of it!)
    • You are familiar with emerging regulatory requirements relating to Operational Resilience

    We don’t expect you to meet every requirement. If you’re excited by this role, we encourage you to apply.
