Job Role
The Paralegal role provides critical support to the legal team and across the business generally and requires a detail-oriented, proactive, and organised person to assist with legal research, document preparation, contract review, and general administrative support.
This role reports to the General Counsel and collaborates closely with key stakeholders across business units and corporate functions in Seeing Machines.

Key Responsibilities
Drafting and Review
- Drafting, reviewing and obtaining signatures on NDAs and template agreements under supervision
- Drafting, reviewing and contributing to variations, amendments, and extensions of commercial contracts with our customers and suppliers
- Assisting with drafting of less complex correspondence and agreements
Legal Research
- Conduct research on federal, state, and local laws and regulations applicable to the business
- Summarise findings and provide concise, actionable insights to legal team members
- Monitor legal developments relevant to the company’s operations and flag potential risks or changes
Corporate Governance support
- Assist with board preparation for face-to-face meetings including catering, room bookings and flight and accommodation requests
- Assist with Annual General Meetings including board room set-up and administrative support
Compliance and risk management support
- Assist in the development and maintenance of internal compliance policies and training materials
- Support audits and internal investigations by gathering documentation and preparing summaries
- Help track compliance deadlines and ensure documentation is properly maintained
- Working with insurance brokers and business stakeholders to gather and review information for insurance contract placement and renewal
- Reporting on insurance contract cover arrangements, premiums, and recoveries
- Supporting the liability claims notification process under insurance contracts so that the insurers have sufficient information to investigate claims and respond
- Monitoring and reviewing contract and insurance claims to help identify trends
- Maintaining the privacy complaints register and reporting on compliance with data protection agreement obligations
- Reviewing, interpreting, conducting assessments of, and reporting on contract governance, risk and compliance performance
Communication
- Serve as a point of contact for internal departments seeking legal support;
- Assist in responding to inquiries from internal stakeholders regarding legal and contractual matters;
Administrative support
- Preparation of invoices, purchase orders and other liaison and communication with members of the finance and procurement teams
- Schedule and coordinate legal team meetings
- Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and presentations for internal legal use
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Preference for candidates with a law degree or partial completion working towards completion.
- Demonstrated understanding of governance, risk and compliance in a corporate environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of data protection and privacy, including Australian privacy laws and GDPR compliance.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in stakeholder management and engagement.
- Ability to initiate and recommend changes to business processes and techniques, with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
- Ability to solve issues through discussion, negotiation, and teamwork.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
