The Google DeepMind Impact Accelerator (GDI) has a unique role in Google DeepMind (GDM), to develop solutions and resources built on GDM's technologies and expertise that extend the benefits to humanity. We are a path to real world impact, beyond Alphabet products and services or making our research public.

About us

Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity’s most useful inventions. At Google DeepMind, we’re a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.

The role

In this role you will work in a collaborative team of scientists and engineers to bring the benefits of GDM life sciences portfolio (e.g. technologies such as AlphaFold, AlphaMissense) and other scientific breakthroughs to the wider community. To do this you will identify and support partners to apply our technology to address real-world challenges (e.g. working towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals).

Key responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of organisations, including for-profit and not-for-profits and academic groups.
  • Manage inbound interest from external organisations and potential partners in the life sciences space (for areas including genomics, structural biology, fusion and beyond), and other areas of GDI as required.
  • Establish and manage mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Work with partners and the team on program delivery, ensuring programs align to stated intentions and aims.
  • Plan GDI’s alliance budget for areas such as life sciences, align internal stakeholders around budget, and manage and report on the partnership spend.
  • Set goals for partnership impact, and report on how we’re delivering against them.
  • Find opportunities that address unmet needs for partners or the wider ecosystem to leverage Google DeepMind’s technology, and drive access and equitable adoption of these tools
  • Own partnership collaborations including analysing trends, identifying lessons learned, and proactively proposing strategic recommendations for improvements.
  • Represent Google DeepMind externally at relevant events and meetings, engaging and building relationships with key organisations in the ecosystem and understanding the landscape, sharing reflections and learnings back internally
  • Collaborate with Google DeepMind teams, such as Legal, BizCorpDev, MarComms and Public Affairs, to initiate and deliver collaborations, from initial planning to negotiation and execution of agreements, to project delivery and relevant communications as required.
  • Collaborate with engineers, research scientists, scientific domain experts as well as product and program managers to apply state-of-the-art AI to important scientific and real-world problems for maximum impact for the wider community.
