The Home team is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join our growing Engineering Team. You'll play an instrumental role in the DevOps practice across our application engineering teams.

The Platform Engineer role requires breadth and depth of expertise (a “comb-shaped” skills profile) across a broad range of technologies, including: networking, storage, databases, compute, web services, authentication, IT operations, monitoring and observability, resilient design and disaster recovery, cost effective cloud architecture, build/deploy tooling and processes, developer tooling, infrastructure as code, information security (architecting for security, vulnerability management, security incident response), and compliance. We strive to help our teams grow their expertise in these areas, both individually and in group settings.

The right candidate for this role will be highly-organized and collaborative; with a passion for solving problems cross-functionally. But you won’t do it alone — you’ll have a collaborative cross-disciplinary team working with you.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide architectural design support for new projects as well as collaboration and leadership on larger infrastructure efforts.
  • Support application engineering teams for a variety of requests related to cloud infrastructure, DevOps, system architecture, CI/CD.
  • Participate in escalation support during outages, helping ensure service restoration, and identifying root causes to prevent future issues.
  • Lead training sessions and one-on-one guidance on various topics, including AWS, Terraform, CI/CD processes, command-line tools, and security.
  • Build automation and reusable modules for standard patterns, such as Terraform modules and GitHub Actions templates, to improve consistency and reduce complexity so software teams can do their work more efficiently.
  • Tracking, reporting and recommendations related to cloud spend.
  • Active pair-programming with teammates when they need help. Help mentor and develop less senior talent.
  • Participate in formal and informal code and architecture reviews.
  • Continually look for opportunities to build value in the codebase: set standards, build tools, and automate jobs to make yourself and your team better and faster.
  • Add to a culture that loves experimentation, Agile development, and intellectual curiosity
  • Be part of building a positive team environment

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in platform engineering.
  • Proficiency with Terraform.
  • Proficiency working in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Proficiency in version control tools like Git.
  • Experience with linux OS.
  • Experience with containerization like Docker.
  • Experience with github actions.
  • Experience with scanning tools like Wiz.io, Cycode, etc.
  • Experience with telemetry and monitoring such as New Relic or AWS Cloud Watch.
  • Experience with software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.
  • Experience with a CI/CD pipeline
  • Growth Mindset: A relentless desire to learn and excel in a tech-driven environment
  • Excellent communication skills for effective team collaboration, including the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Even Better:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • AWS Solutions Architect Certification
  • Understand and know when to leverage various web services, software tools, and software architecture approaches to autonomously design scalable, maintainable, secure, and reusable solutions
