Principal Site Reliability Engineer
About the team
HashiCorp’s product portfolio includes a number of multi-tenant SaaS, single-tenant SaaS, and single-tenant on-premises products, providing a disparate and complex set of operational requirements for both HashiCorp and its customers. HashiCorp’s Cloud Platform and its Terraform Cloud offerings have SRE teams that are responsible for enabling a great experience for our customers by providing HashiCorp engineers the tools they need to make our products and services more reliable.
HashiCorp’s new Central Architecture Group focuses on driving consistency and reuse of technology and paradigms, developing engineering and architectural principles and standards, and providing help and expertise in complex technological domains across our product teams.
We are looking for a technical leader who is highly collaborative, strategic, and communicative to work across our product teams. This person’s primary goal will be to help teams understand and adopt an SRE mindset via education, partnerships, design reviews, shared tooling, and other means, with the aim of helping ensure that our software is readily operational and reliable, regardless of whether it is deployed on-premises or delivered via SaaS.
What you’ll do
- Drive an operational excellence mindset throughout our teams
- Collaborate with existing SREs across our SaaS products and look for ways to unify reliability and operational behavior and features across SaaS and on-premises products
- Work with product teams to help drive reliability and operational excellence requirements to help continuously improve our products
- Help develop educational materials and shared tooling to level up reliability and operational thinking across our product teams
- Participate in feature partnerships and reviews to ensure compliance with reliability and operational requirements
- Participate in crucial decision-making related to various reliability programs

- Loves data, analyzing data, and helping teams draw conclusions from data
- Is an effective communicator, collaborator, and influencer with both engineering and product teams
- Is able to identify pragmatic and ideal solutions blending customer feedback with technical foresight
- Is a technical leader capable of crafting long-term strategy and vision

- Ideally has prior experience with our products, especially our on-premises and/or single-tenant SaaS products

Individual pay within the range will be determined based on job related-factors such as skills, experience, and education or training.
The base pay range for this role in the SF Bay Area / NYC area is:$271,200—$319,000 USDThe base pay range for this role in California (excluding SF Bay Area), New York (excluding NYC), Seattle Metro, Denver / Boulder Metro, Washington D.C., or Maryland is:$248,500—$292,400 USDThe base pay range for this role in Colorado (excluding Denver / Boulder Metro), Illinois, Minnesota, or Washington (excluding Seattle Metro) is:$225,900—$265,800 USD“HashiCorp is an IBM subsidiary which has been acquired by IBM and will be integrated into the IBM organization.
