As part of the Record to Report (General Ledger) team, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring smooth month end closing, understanding the different systems and processes,  preparing and improving reconciliations for intercompany payables/receivables, intercompany loans, cashpool balances, leases, and working on efficiencies and automations of the processes. Our team is responsible for the SumUp markets in Western Europe (i.e. Ireland, France, Italy, Netherlands, etc), UK, USA and Australia. We are working in close collaboration with the Accounts payable, Accounts receivable, Tax, Controlling, Treasury, FP&A, Facility and logistics teams, as well as our inhouse ERP (S4 Hana) team. The team has a critical role in implementing new processes, participating in automation, improvement and standardization projects.  What you’ll do:

  • Sustain high-quality accounting and constant monitoring of intercompany transactions including operational transfer pricing, cashpool and intercompany loans. Partner closely with tax and treasury teams;
  • Perform IFRS 16 leasing postings. Ensure timely recording and payment of leases;
  • Perform postings and reconciliations related to VAT. Partner with tax team on investigating discrepancies and ensure proper balances are reported;
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliation;
  • Lead the improvement of the intercompany accrual reconciliation process;
  • Engage and support team members with all other closing and project-related activities as needed in the areas of Fixed assets, Inventories, FX revaluations, Payroll and balance sheet presentation.

You’ll be great for this role if:

  • Deep understanding of accounting principles and ability to apply accounting best practices;
  • Previous working experience, preferably in the Record to report domain / GL domain;
  • Ability to independently perform and review routine postings and reconciliations, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Excel and good understanding of accounting software (SAP knowledge is a plus).
  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data;
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
