RECOVERY SPECIALIST

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead dockside processing and support offshore processing of recovered flight hardware including, but not limited to, Falcon 9 1st stage boosters and fairing halves on console from the control room
  • Support functional checkouts, troubleshooting, and non-conformance resolution of recovery asset ground support equipment, flight hardware, and marine assets
  • Support the development, testing, and rollout of business processes and software/automation to accelerate and optimize recovered flight hardware processing for Falcon 9 1st stage boosters and fairing halves
  • Interface with both engineering and technicians in the field for both nominal and off-nominal operations
  • Develop and lead training for recovery operations workforce
  • Identify pain points and repeat issues with recovery operations support hardware, and work with engineering to design and implement robust long-term solutions
  • Interact with vendors to drive technical issues to resolution with minimal oversight

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of experience troubleshooting mechanical systems
  • 3+ years of experience working in an operational environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working in a technical field
  • 2+ years of experience operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools
  • 2+ years of professional experience working with ground support systems including high pressure gas, cryogenic, hydraulic, electrical, or monitoring systems
  • Experience with fluids system component functionality as well as electrical and data control system operations
  • Experience using and troubleshooting ground control systems required for remote operations and instrumentation feedback
  • Experience reading, and interpreting electrical and fluid schematics
  • Experience with pressurized gas systems including assembly, testing, and safe handling
  • Experience with real-time operations/integrated hazardous test experience
  • Ability to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, fast paced environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to travel to additional recovery sites in support of launches
  • Must be able to work all shifts, extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg
  • Ability to pass Transportation Worker Identification Credential background checks

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Pay ranges:

Recovery Specialist/Level 1: $30.00 - $38.00/hourRecovery Specialist/Level 2: $34.00 - $43.00/hourRecovery Specialist/Level 3: $38.00 - $48.00/hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
