This role will be based at our Bristol hub, where we expect you to be in the office 3-4 times per week, and to go to OVO Connection events in-person.

We’re hiring world-changers. The Regulation team plays a critical role in understanding and influencing the boundaries within which we operate, ensuring we are able to affect and adapt to industry change. Our Regulatory Analysts are responsible for providing accurate reporting to our regulator and using that data to provide insight to the rest of the business. Our clear focus is to enable OVO to drive progress and support customers on our Zero Carbon journey.
This role in a nutshell:You’ll work with colleagues from across the business to deliver robust and accurate data reporting and to develop value-added insights that can support the business in delivering for our customers and understanding the view our regulator has of us. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that we are meeting our regulatory requirements and in maintaining a good working relationship with Ofgem.
Your key outcomes will be:
- Coordinating and submitting responses to requests for information, and follow-up queries, to regulators and external stakeholders on a monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc basis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of submissions.
- Compliance with internal governance processes to ensure submissions are fully reviewed and signed off by appropriate stakeholders.
- Lead on internal stakeholder engagement to ensure understanding, requirements and approvals of all key regulatory data returns, including with a range of senior leaders.
- Visualising and explaining data using a range of advanced analytical techniques to a range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, the regulator and government.
- Conduct regular reviews of OVO’s data architecture and sources to ensure continued accuracy and completeness, including maintaining team specific databases.
- Review and maintain Google BigQuery scripts and procedures through the use of GitHub.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the business to create Google BigQuery scripts for new regulatory reporting requirements.
- Deliver robust validation of regulatory submissions to ensure high levels of accuracy.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the business to provide commentary to regulators and external stakeholders on trends and anomalies within submissions as necessary.
- Analyse complex datasets and communicate findings to senior stakeholders, highlighting key areas of regulatory risk to the business.
- Develop and maintain a suite of analytical dashboards to allow stakeholders to monitor key areas of risk and self-serve where appropriate.
- Develop and implement user friendly reports which support performance analysis and provide a “regulator’s view” of OVO to senior stakeholders.
You’ll be a successful Regulatory Data & Insight Analyst at OVO if you…
- Have 1+years experience in a similar data or analytical role.
- Can demonstrate strong knowledge of key data analysis and tools including BigQuery, Dataform, SQL, GitHub.
- Have good data visualisation skills, using tools such as Looker Studio, Tableau and Thoughtspot (or similar software) to provide meaningful and insightful data visualisations.
- Posses strong Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets ability.
- Can multi-task with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Are highly numerate and analytical with an ability to delve into the detail but also understand the strategic view.
- Are able to clearly document processes and procedures.
- Have excellent presentation and communication skills, able to clearly articulate data and insights, and comfortable engaging at all levels both internally and externally.
- Are a good relationship builder, comfortable working collaboratively in cross-organisational teams to deliver complex data requests for Ofgem, DESNZ, Citizens Advice and other external organisations.
- Have the flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and to rigid timescales within a highly regulated and evolving sector.
- Are a great team player and self-starter comfortable working both autonomously and with colleagues to deliver team and business objectives.
- Knowledge of the energy sector and regulatory reporting requirements would be beneficial.
We’ll pay you between £35,880 and £45,000, depending on your specific skills and experience.

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
