We are looking to hire ambitious, and value-adding talent to join Modulr, the fastest growing payments business in the UK and Europe. As a Regulatory Lawyer, you will have the opportunity to join our in-house legal team, playing a pivotal role in supporting the rapid growth of our business, within a complex and fast changing regulatory market. We are principal issuing members of Visa and Mastercard schemes across UK and Europe.

Our regulatory permissions and governance structure are the foundations of our business. We are regulated and supervised as an Authorised Electronic Money Institution (AEMI) in the UK by the Financial Conduct Authority and in the Netherlands by De Nederlandsche Bank.

Our founding team has a wealth of experience in the payments industry and growing successful businesses. Modulr is backed by the venture arms of payments giants PayPal and FIS, as well as growth investors Blenheim Chalcot, General Atlantic, Frog Capital and Europe.

The team

We're looking for a Regulatory Legal Counsel, who has in-house experience. You will join a team of 4, including a Senior Legal Counsel, two other Legal Counsels and a Paralegal, work alongside the wider legal team who are responsible for all legal matters affecting Modulr.

About you

The successful Regulatory Legal Counsel will have a track-record in delivering results in a fast-moving scaling business and hence you must be comfortable with change and uncertainty. More specifically the ideal candidate will have:

• Record of accomplishment in a similar role eager to push and contribute to a scaling business.
• Deep knowledge of E Money Regulations and Payment Services Regulation.
• Strong understanding of the FCA's approach to regulation.
• Experience advising EMIs or PIs in the payments sector.
• An optimistic outlook, can-do attitude and open personality that likes to have fun at work as well as getting the job done.
• Excellent stakeholder management experience, as it is essential to being a success in this role. 
• c8 years PQE, ideally from a top tier private practice firm experience with in-house experience from a Fintech or high-growth firm (or bank).
