Toast is driven by building the all-in-one restaurant platform that helps restaurants operate their business, increase sales, engage guests, and keep employees happy. Toast connects employees, operations, and guests on a reliable, easy-to-use platform so restaurateurs can stay one step ahead of a rapidly evolving hospitality market. 

To empower our developers, the Release Engineering team seeks to constantly improve our software delivery process.  We create the digital assembly lines that transform code into polished products. As efficiency experts, we build and maintain scalable, secure, and automated release pipelines that not only turbocharge our software delivery but also act as guardrails, ensuring compliance and reliability from the first commit to the final deployment.

We are looking for a software engineer who will join in our mission!

 

About this roll* (Responsibilities) 

  • Be part of a team working collaboratively to optimize build and deployment automation tools for developers
  • Create and implement CI/CD solutions that ensure release quality and security
  • Lead complex projects with multiple contributors and stakeholders
  • Participate in team on-call rotation to respond to production alerts for the team’s systems
  • Mentor and coach other team members
  • Promote technical excellence 

 

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

  • Proficiency in Go, Java/Kotlin or other modern language(s) with a strong understanding of testing, quality and best practices
  • Ability to dive into a breadth of problems in various programming languages
  • Passion for improving the software delivery process and making developers happy
  • Agile mindset focused on delivering usable software

Special Sauce* (Nice to Haves)

  • Experience with managing AWS/Cloud infrastructure
  • Experience building CI/CD solutions

  • A core of Java/Kotlin and Golang based backend services
  • GitHub Actions workflow platform and custom actions written in TypeScript
  • PostgresQL and DynamoDB as core persistence
  • Backstage developer portal
  • Deep AWS integrations and componentry
  • Many more technologies that help us build a world-class platform

**This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence two days per week**
