Research Analyst - Food and Drink - Spain

We are looking for an analyst / senior analyst specialising in the Spanish  market to join the food and drink insights team based in London. Using our existing Spanish consumer research and market and innovation coverage, combined with local desk research and knowledge, this role will create insightful food and drink content that is tailored to the Spanish market, having first worked with the Commercial team to understand the needs of clients there. 

The role will also support commercial objectives through the provision of dedicated client service support, new business support and additional local PR/marketing activity to increase visibility in the market. 

Content would be produced in English. When engaging with clients or prospects and assisting with PR/ marketing efforts in the market, it is crucial that all communications are conducted in Spanish.

Responsibilities

Creation of monthly insight content on trends and opportunities in the Spanish food & drink market, for publishing on Mintel’s subscription platform [~35% of your time]

  • Write bold and forward looking analysis focused on the Spanish market, identifying trends and opportunities for our client base to take advantage of. 
  • Content should tackle current and future topics of interest for Spanish food and drink clients (identified through client engagement and through liaison with Spanish Commercial team members) and utilise Mintel’s ongoing Spanish consumer surveys, tracking of innovation activity and other data inputs.

Delivering insight to and engaging with Spanish food and drink clients [~35% of your time]

  • Present  the above content to clients as and when required and maintain dialogue with key clients to understand their future insight needs.
  • Respond to Spanish client briefs, developing and delivering insights tailored to client needs, and pulling in global category expertise as required.

Spanish market PR/marketing support (~20% of total time)

  • With support of the Marketing team, deliver a dedicated Spanish market webinar series on topics engaging to a wide variety of clients (quarterly). 
  • Identify and present at external events in the market as required, to increase visibility.
  • Develop presentations to deliver at Mintel’s own events in the market (eg Mintel’s annual ‘Connect’ event for Spanish clients).
  • Contribute Spanish market specific content for blog posts and lead generation activity (as directed by the PR team).
  • Work with the PR team to target specific Spanish market publications with content and commentary to raise visibility in the market.

Spanish market new business support (10% of total time)

  • Support upgrade discussions and new business pitches – presenting selected content in Spanish and helping to demonstrate Mintel’s expertise in the market.

What we are looking for:

  • Must have fluent verbal and written communication in both Spanish and English
  • Strong knowledge and experience of the Spanish food and drink industry and key players
  • A critical thinker who is able to analyse data and other inputs and find new insights
  • Ability to write concise, insightful and impactful content to deadline (in English)
  • Able to confidently deliver high quality and engaging presentations to sometimes tight deadlines and to demanding, and often large, audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter capable of maintaining an efficient work schedule with minimal supervision
  • Commercially-minded, being able to understand and support Mintel’s own commercial objectives and that of clients
  • Must have a positive attitude and be energetic
  • Experience with new product development and consumer research and trends
  • Ability to travel internationally, up to 25% of time.
