THE WORK:

Ripple is growing, and we’re looking for exceptional individuals to help build and oversee the largest digital asset trading unit and DeFi ecosystem in crypto. This candidate will report into the EMEA Head of Trading and Markets to help with the growth and operational excellence of Ripple's trading unit, managing organic and inorganic and addressing the liquidity requisites integral to our success. The ideal candidate for this role should have a proven track record of scaling traditional financial businesses effectively. They should possess executive presence to engage successfully with high-level leaders. Additionally, they must have a thorough understanding of technology, blockchain, and financial markets, along with strong analytical skills in these areas.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Strategic Execution: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for Ripple’s digital asset trading vertical, focusing on liquidity provision, automated market-making, and servicing firm-wide liquidity through innovative trading solutions
  • Management Reporting: Handle management processes around reporting, budgets, target planning, continuity planning, resiliency, compliance etc. 
  • Principal Investments: Drive principal investments in key infrastructure projects to enhance the firm's capabilities and de-risk firmwide dependencies through thought leadership, relationship building, identifying prospects and taking deals to completion
  • Balance Sheet Optimization: Help develop infrastructure and processes for active balance sheet trades in Digital and FIAT assets, including, derivatives, lending and  on-chain liquidity seeding and market-making.
  • Risk Management Solutions: Design and implement customized risk management strategies to mitigate counterparty or financial risks across the firm.
  • Market Expansion: Assist the team with Ripple’s penetration into DeFi and Stablecoins from a markets and trading perspective, navigating the complexities of a highly regulated landscape.
  • Partnership Building: Build, cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with key financial institutions in the crypto trading and infrastructure landscape. Maximize benefits of partnerships over their lifespan
  • Cross-functional Leadership: Forge collaborative partnerships with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with Ripple's product offerings, alongside establishing the requisite legal and compliance frameworks. Own and account for delivery regardless of functional span

WHAT YOU'LL BRING: 

  • Educational Background: Advanced Degree in economics, statistics, physics, applied math, or related field preferred
  • Professional Experience: 12+ years of experience in the financial industry and a minimum of 5 years experience in trading departments, experience in institutional DeFi or launching new products in crypto markets
  • Market Expertise: Deep understanding of financial markets products, including derivatives, credit structuring, and know-how of illiquid markets
  • Crypto Experience: Inner workings across crypto infrastructure players, protocols and dApps (on-ramps/off-ramps, banking networks, stablecoins, lending/borrowing, exchanges, wallets, DeFi liquidity, custodians, prime brokers and payment providers) 
  • Decision Making: Decisiveness with the ability to process complicated information quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Risk, Governance and Compliance: Strong understanding of operational risk, compliance, and appropriate regulations (preferably experience in running or creating governance frameworks for institutions at a large scale)
  • Soft skills: Excellent documentation, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills
