The Role
Agilisys are seeking a developer with 3-5 years’ experience in the .Net stack with SQL Server, Transact-SQL, and preferably SQL Server Integration Services to develop, support, and integrate bespoke and third-party services, apps, and systems for Sefton Council.
Key responsibilities
- Lead project development and liaise with colleagues.
- Communicate with users on support and technical issues.
- Present solutions using presentations, prototypes, and walkthroughs.
- Mentor and train colleagues.
- Maintain bespoke integrations, batch processes, web services, and in-house applications.
- Complete development work following team standards.
- Lead specification, design, testing, and implementation of development requests.
- Provide out-of-hours support with overtime compensation.
- Adhere to SLA and KPI targets.
- Maintain IT product knowledge and undertake training.
- Produce documentation and coach users.
- Support applications/integrations and resolve 2nd and 3rd line issues within SLAs.
Person specification
Essential:
- 3-5 years’ technical and development experience.
- Degree, HND, or equivalent in a computer-related discipline, or extensive experience.
- Strong knowledge of programming in the .Net stack with C#/VB, SQL Server, Transact-SQL, and SQL Server Integration Services.
- Self-motivated with strong skills and experience.
- Aptitude for programming with logical thinking, tenacity, and creative problem-solving.
- 3 years of experience in Object-Oriented programming (T-SQL, C#, VB.NET preferred).
- Experience assisting customers and project managers with new work specifications or changes.
- Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable:
- Experience in Local Authority/ Government application development or IT Managed Service.
- Experience with Council IT clients/business development leads.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365, PowerApps, Power BI, Azure DevOps and Functions.
- Understanding of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 in on-premise and Azure environments.
- Knowledge of ITIL V4.
The Ideal Candidate
Skills
- Proficiency in C#, VB.NET, Visual Studio/Code IDE.
- Extensive SQL Server and T-SQL experience.
- Webservices (SOAP and RESTful).
- Exposure to SSIS preferred.
- Experience with web services (SOAP and RESTful), WinSFTP.
- Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, Saas/Less, TypeScript/JavaScript, or any framework (Angular, Node, React, etc.).
- Source control experience (e.g., GitKraken/Subversion).
- Familiarity with at least one of the following is desirable: Revenues & Benefits, CRM, CMS, and Payment systems (NEC, govService, Umbraco, Civica Icon).
- Effective verbal, presentation, documentation, listening, and communication skills.
- Experience in analysing, diagnosing, testing, and providing solutions for application-related issues.
- Ability to interpret business requirements and implement them into bespoke integrations or third-party applications.
- Collaborative working with team members for 2nd and 3rd line support.
- Effective time management.
