Our brand strategy & management team are responsible for creating the frameworks for success - think brand positioning, guidelines & brand toolkits. Ultimately helping the business work towards our common goal - making energy work for people and planet. 

We are looking for an experienced and professional brand strategist to cover a temporary secondment - supporting the Head of Brand on day-to-day strategic projects, requirements, activation, organisation and planning.

 

This role in a nutshell:

Looking to be part of a team at the forefront of one of the most exciting and transformational brands in the energy tech sector? Following a successful rebrand in 2023, OVO has entered a new chapter of brand evolution in which the continued rollout, application and evaluation of the brand is considered pivotal to our long-term business success.  

This role will range from stakeholder engagement across the entire business, supporting on everything from development, naming and proposition positioning, through to exploring new ways to activate the brand across experiences. Working closely with the Head of Brand, you’ll be the go-to strategist within a team in constant high-demand ensuring the brand is consistent and effective. 

 

Your key outcomes will be:

  • A trusted strategic partner to the Head of Brand. Able to provide both critical opinion on outputs, as well as crafting your own responses to a wide variety of problem-solving challenges.  
  • Able to create strategically robust and inspiring naming, positioning and messaging documents for a diverse range of products and propositions that reinforce and contribute to the core brand platform  
  • Act as a brand representative and evangelist within various working groups to ensure all consumer facing comms and assets reflect the brand, and contribute to creating the desired consumer impact 
  • Collaborate with other teams in the wider Brand and Marketing teams (from Advertising to Insight), acting as a brand consultant ensuring all outputs are consistent and reflect the core strategy 
  • Partner with Head of Comms Planning on messaging strategy for everything from GTM/product launches, through to BAU comms
  • Partner with, and support, colleagues in strategic brand alignment to maintain brand standards

Within your first 3 months month you’ll:

  • Have an innate understanding of the OVO brand platform and long-term strategic ambition
  • Be seen internally as an expert in OVO’s brand strategy, guidelines and tone of voice 
  • Be an expert in OVO’s propositions and products
  • Be very familiar with OVO’s customer experience
  • Have a reputation for inspiring outputs to problem-solving challenges by colleagues throughout the business
  • Proactively spot opportunities to improve, activate or integrate the brand strategy to have a meaningful impact on customers and prospects

 

You’ll be a successful Senior Brand Strategist here at OVO if you…

  • Have 5+ years experience as a brand strategist (or responsible for brand strategy) in either an agency or business environment
  • Have a provable track record in helping to build, and maintain, best in class consumer brands
  • Have a strong depth of understanding and appreciation for the mechanics and theory of what makes a strong brand strategy and how to build great brands
  • Have a strong understanding of the role brands play in creating meaningful connections between a business and its customers
  • Are a confident and creative communicator, able to bring ideas to life in an inspiring and empathetic way
  • Are a natural problem solver and critical thinker, capable of seeing the creative or transformative opportunities in everyday challenges
  • Understand the business impact effective brand strategy can have, and can confidently interpret brand metrics and reporting - and subsequently translate this into language that non-brand folk will understand
  • Are able to translate consumer, category and cultural trends into meaningful insights, and apply them to help inform strategic recommendations

We’ll pay you between £60,000 and £67,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
