Senior Business Development Manager
About the role
This role is a great opportunity to get exposure to a high-paced startup and lead the sales initiative for Hong Kong. The business development team are the backbone of our business, the hunters who are out there in the weeds constantly eating food and signing up the best new restaurants in town to partner with us. This is a role for a bright, motivated, organised self-starter to develop their sales career for a leading company within its market sector.
What you’ll be doing:
Business Development- Explore market opportunities and industry trends to identify potential areas for growth with key partners in the Grocery & Retail sectors.
- Stay informed about industry developments and keep track of competitor activities and market dynamics.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline by targeting both existing markets and new opportunities for expansion.
- Conduct thorough analyses of both businesses and collaborate with internal teams to develop strategic plans aimed at closing deals.
- Negotiate and finalise sales opportunities to meet and surpass established sales targets.
- Ensure compliance with sign-off procedures for new business opportunities and maintain organised records and contract documentation for future reference.
- Identify and nurture strategic partnerships with stakeholders in the Restaurant, Grocery, and Retail industries.
- Aim for mutually beneficial partnerships that drive revenue growth, focusing on areas such as promotions, marketing exposure, and partner programs.
- Collaborate closely with commercial and marketing teams to ensure partnerships align with overall business goals.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and competitor activities to enhance event planning and partnership strategies.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of partnerships and provide insights for ongoing improvement and success.
Skills & Requirements:
- Background: 6-8 years’ experience in an account management, business development/new business, or commercial role. Experience in working within both Retail (non-food) & Grocery industry is preferable.
- Commercial Mindset: Entrepreneurial spirit to connect all pieces together. A fast learner with a high degree of persistence and resourcefulness to get things done. Sensitive to real-world trends.
- Partner-Focused: Partner obsessed, with effective relationship-building, organization, and communication skills whether face-to-face, or through video, phone, or email.
- Analytical: Able to cut through the noise, get deep into data, and understand the data points that drive performance improvements for our grocery partners.
- Creativity: Able to generate ideas and strategies to drive the growth of our joint business with our partners, with a willingness to trial at pace.
- Proven Ability to Manage Multiple Projects: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Cross-Functional Team Player: A collaborative team player who is able to get the best out of the people around you. Able to work effectively at all levels of Deliveroo and deliver success with and through others.
- Upbeat, Confident, and High Energy: Bring freshness, energy, and passion into the team. Help create a working environment that is unique, spawns new ideas, and is enjoyable for the other people involved.
- Experience in Dynamic High-Growth Companies: Experience in working in a dynamic high-growth company is preferable.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in Cantonese and English, with clear, persuasive communication skills and strong relationship-building abilities.
