About the team:

At Luno, our main objective is to provide our users with a secure and streamlined cryptocurrency experience. To achieve this, our Internal Audit team plays a critical role in enforcing compliance, identifying potential risks and hazards, and prompting enhancements throughout our organization. We are currently seeking an experienced Compliance Auditor to deliver exceptional insights and solutions that align with our strategic objectives. 

The role in a nutshell:

Luno Internal Audit is looking for a candidate to complement the function with deep compliance knowledge and skills. The Compliance Auditor will provide independent assurance to the organization regarding compliance with key regulations, policies and procedures with an emphasis on AML/CTF compliance across Luno’s global entities. The Compliance Auditor must be able to plan, execute and deliver audit assignments in line with relevant policies, procedures, and quality standards.  The candidate should also be able to support the rest of the Internal Audit team on non-regulatory audits

Your mission will be:
  • Contribute to the development of a risk-based Internal Audit plan with a focus on Compliance.
  • Maintain and update the audit universe, identifying emerging risks and regulatory requirements.
  • Understand the business's risk profile in the broader context of the group and industry.
  • Perform allocated audits in line with the approved Internal Auditing Methodology, in line with International Standards of Auditing and maintain quality and performance standards consistently.
  • Execute and deliver the audit plan and management requests promptly. 
  • Deliver impactful audit reports with well-considered management actions and due dates promptly.
  • Drive the Combined Assurance efforts of the organisation.
  • Execute the issues assurance plan promptly and by quality standards.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with auditees.
  • Contribute effectively to administrative needs of the Internal Audit function
A little about you:
  • Honours degree in Internal Audit or tertiary education in Law
  • At least 6 years in a Compliance Auditor or Compliance Analyst role with a minimum of:

                 2 years in Compliance Auditor Role

                 2 years performing AML/CTF Reviews

Technical Expertise:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and full understanding of the regulatory requirements applicable to Luno and a working knowledge of the discipline.  
  • A track record in efficiently delivering Compliance audits and assessment
  • Facilitates agreement on audit findings and ratings with relevant stakeholders.
  • Analyses root causes of identified issues and provides recommendations for necessary improvements to the control environment.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how different Internal Audit tasks fit together within wider Internal Audit team and any knock-on impacts for wider business.

Business Understanding:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the financial services industry and the broader crypto market landscape as well as the applicable regulations. 

Ownership and Proactivity:

  • Takes full responsibility for objective-based assignments and actively drives impact within Luno, consistently seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Sets short to medium-term vision and priorities, drives project roadmaps, and defines team metrics.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Able to foster collaborative relationships with wider Internal Audit team.  
  • Managers relationships with key individuals from across the business.
  • Independently own internal and external relationships. This includes business stakeholders and third party suppliers. 

Communication and Presentation:

Communicates effectively with the various stakeholders.
