The Okta Privileged Access Management (PAM) is an identity-centric approach to a common and critical privileged access use case. Our elegant Zero Trust architecture is purpose-built for the modern cloud and helps customers solve challenging security and operations pain points at scale. 

 

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our fast-growing team with a focus on scalability, reliability, and enhancing the core building blocks of the product.

The DevOps Engineer Opportunity

We are looking for a DevOps engineer that has a deep understanding of both backend service engineering and user interface development. In this role, you will be a vital part of our Okta Privileged Access team.

You will share our passion and great pride in building elegant solutions and will join an engineering team that prioritizes scalability, rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and an iterative approach to build high-quality, next-generation enterprise software. You will be part of a full-stack engineering team at Okta that provides opportunities to investigate new technologies and share knowledge, tools, code, and best practices. You will get an opportunity to solve hard problems while partnering with product management and user experience teams examining and refining requirements to deliver an amazing customer experience.

What you’ll be doing 

  • Be deeply involved in evolving the core architecture of PAM.
  • Partner with our SRE and product development teams to build scalable, composable components of our platform on an AWS EKS environment.
  • Be responsible for designing and implementing scalable architecture patterns on Kubernetes using AWS components like Aurora DB, Kinesis, Redis etc.
  • Own the CI/CD pipeline using technologies such as CircleCI, ArgoCD, GitOps etc.
  • Own core components of our infrastructure including systems for rate limiting, request routing, managing feature flags, managing application configuration, etc.
  • Mostly work on backend systems written in Go running on AWS.
  • Participate in the rotational on-call activities with SRE and product development teams.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Have 5+ years of software development experience with a background in Go, Java, Python, C++, C or similar languages.
  • Kubernetes experience and knowledge of clusters.
  • Participate in building infrastructure as a code using Terraform.
  • Experienced working with CI/CD tools like CircleCI, ArgoCD, GitOps etc.
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment built on end-to-end ownership.
  • Love thinking about distributed systems, and the reliability, availability and performance implications of the decisions made in their design.
  • Enjoy deep-diving on production metrics.
  • Are comfortable working on a fully-distributed team.

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:$114,000—$172,000 CAD
