About the roleAs the Senior Engineer Manager in the Connected Devices team you will play a critical role in shaping and executing on our strategy to bring ThousandEyes’ measurements to all internet connected devices. We will use these capabilities to help assure the digital experience of enterprise, service providers and consumers alike. You will lead teams of talented engineers and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, operations, security and third-party partners, to design, build, and maintain our global scale measurement and digital experience assurance platform.
What You'll Do- Lead and inspire a talented team of software engineers, who develop in a variety of languages for a variety of platforms. You will do this whilst fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
- Drive the strategic vision for the development, implementation, and management of the Connected Devices product.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, product management, and security to define and implement reliable, secure, and scalable systems.
- Build relationships with key customers, understand their needs and issues, and take ownership when problems arise.
- Provide oversight and direction in the development of our measurement agents (for routers, IoT devices, smartphones and more), our cloud platform, and supporting APIs. You will do this whilst ensuring quality, scalability and resilience meeting customer needs.
- Drive excellent in engineering and security practices.
- Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.
- You will have a proven track record of delivering on complex projects that span multiple teams with a high degree of ambiguity.
- Proven experience of leading multiple teams of software engineers.
- You have a firm understanding of the distributed systems design, cloud technology and their components.
- A background in software engineering, and a deep understanding of modern engineering techniques and development practices. Even if you are not doing this today, we believe a strong technical background is important for our engineering leaders.
- Proven ability to think strategically and align technical initiatives with business objectives
- Extensive experience leading teams that maintain mission-critical services in production environments which are required to have high availability and reliability.
- An understanding of the core principles of networking.
- Can provide a strong technical vision for your teams and ensure consistent delivery of objectives.
- Have experience formulating a team's technical strategy and roadmap; you've collaborated and partnered effectively with several other teams to execute shared goals.
- Understand how to balance tactical needs with strategic growth and quality-based initiatives that can span multiple quarters.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco pays at the standard rate of 1% of incentive target for each 1% revenue attainment against the quota up to 100%. Once performance exceeds 100% quota attainment, incentive rates may increase up to five times the standard rate with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
