Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our growing Finance team in Boston, MA supporting the dynamic and fast-moving Marketing organization to drive revenue and customer growth for the company!

This role supports Financial Planning and Analysis for the Marketing Finance team, and leads key financial planning and reporting cadences, supports the rhythm of business, and owns design and improvement of our financial reporting infrastructure. The role directly supports the Director of Marketing Finance and delivers insights and reports to diverse organizations of partner teams that includes Performance Marketing, Brand, Customer Relationship Management, and Marketing Operations. The role partners closely with Corporate FP&A, IR, and Accounting, and owns the production of insightful commentary on marketing performance that shines a light on key business drivers and supports swift decision making by executive leadership. The role supports efficiency in the organization by improving reporting infrastructure, driving automation, and implementing well organized month end close and planning cycles.

This is a job for someone who can get close to the details, deeply understands technical reporting, and is able to connect details to the larger business strategy. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate must be able to earn trust across their finance peers and business partners. The candidate will be organized, detailed orientated, and be able invent and improve processes. They will be an owner, raising their hand to investigate risks/opportunities especially when ownership is ambiguous or unclear as is often the case with new programs. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and financial modeling skills in a big data environment, and a drive to understand and inspect the granular operational metrics of the organization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead financial planning, reporting, and budgeting support for the Marketing organization. 
  • Build and maintain financial reporting and planning infrastructure to provide transparency into the performance of the Marketing business.
  • Design reporting and perform analysis demonstrating Hyperion Financial Planning, SQL, Tableau, Oracle, and Excel.
  • Complete daily and weekly business review reporting production, make callouts and generate performance commentary for senior leadership.
  • Analyze business results to call out areas of opportunity and make recommendations.
  • Participate heavily in the creation of Monthly and Quarterly Business reviews.   
  • Develop month close processes and audit financial operations to improve accounting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Hold a relentlessly high bar for reporting accuracy, speed, and metrics definitions

What You’ll Need:

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years in finance related roles with dynamically increasing levels of responsibility.
  • History of using data and analytics to drive business decisions.
  • Experience in budgeting forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Strong analytical, discernment, and technical finance modeling skills using large data sets.
  • Knowledge of Excel and financial reporting software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate sophisticated financial concepts concisely to collaborators across job levels and functions.
  • Proven track record to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced ambitious environments where decisions need to be made quickly with imperfect data.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships and trust with partners within and outside your direct organization.
  • Steadfast curiosity and desire to learn and challenge yourself in functional areas you might not be familiar with. 
  • ~5% travel expected.

Bonus (if applicable):

  • MBA or business degree.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Tableau, and Hyperion.
  • Familiarity with digital advertising, e-commerce, or other retail business models.
