Your mission

As a Full Stack Engineer at VIDA, you’ll play a key role in building powerful tools that turn complex geospatial data into intuitive, high-impact solutions - all while collaborating across teams and technologies.What you’ll do:

  • Build and maintain end-to-end features that visualize and interact with geospatial datasets.
  • Work across the stack - from frontend map-based UIs to backend services and data processing pipelines.
  • Integrate and work with geospatial libraries, APIs, and services (e.g., PostGIS, Mapbox).
  • Collaborate with data scientists, designers, and product teams to deliver user-centric solutions.
  • Contribute to the architecture and scalability of our platform.
  • Ensure high performance, usability, and accessibility of map-based applications and APIs.

Is it you we’re looking for?

Must-haves:

  • 5+ years of experience as a full stack engineer.
  • Solid knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Significant frontend experience, ideally with frameworks like Angular.
  • Previous backend experience, ideally with Python (and FastAPI).
  • Solid knowledge of testing
  • Familiarity with map libraries such as Mapbox GL JS, Leaflet, or OpenLayers.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL + PostGIS for geospatial data handling.
  • Experience working with geospatial data formats (GeoJSON, GeoParquet, etc.).
  • Understanding of RESTful API design and integration.
Nice-to-haves:
  • Previous experience on scaling map-based platforms
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools
  • Experience with GCP, especially BigQuery
  • Data pipeline experience
  • Knowledge of tiler servers (e.g. TiTiler, TiPG)
  • Familiarity with data science concepts
  • Interest in or experience with climate, sustainability, or international development topics.
